This had an uber concentrated palate of Granny Smith apple, pineapple, tangerine oil, lemon confit, and a loooong finish of liquid rocks kind of like sucking on some minerals. To me, a hypothetical cross between a Batard Montrachet with all the richness and your classic riesling which at 12+ years is developing secondary oiliness. Next stop G Max!!! 94/100

Best bottle (Belsers Restaurant, Nürtingen): Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux Double decanted approx. 4h before tasting. Clear, pale golden color. Very deep, salty, zesty, fruity nose with some hints of smoke. This bottle was interestingly all about structure and minerality. Fruit was in the back. It was very salty, very deep and dense, very phenolic and with an almost oily, mouthcoating intensity. Long and lingering finish. With a bit more fruit, this would have been perfect, but that is a first world problem. Drink now or over the next 10 years. 94
Glass: Zalto Burgundy Popped and poured, drunk over two days. Clear, medium golden color. Clean, medium+ intense, developing nose. Very mineral, lots of crushed stones, yellow stone fruit, some fresh pineapple. Deep and dense. Dry, medium+ acidity, 13% abv. Needs time and air, developed great depth and tension and a lovely mineral touch on day two. Lots of extract, some zesty bitter notes. Great energy. Long, mineral and fruity finish. Slowly approaching its peak, but will stay on this level for years and has still potential. 94+

Opened at Otto e Mezzo in HK. Slow-oxed and chilled in the bottle for 1 hour before serving.
This was the first wine of a great line-up. Consistent with the other bottles I've had, wonderful fruit on the nose balanced with electric acidity and minerality. Very long finish and just leaves you wanting more and more.
In a fantastic spot right now and would encourage enjoying these if you have them!

My first Keller Abts and very much a joy. Nose is quite floral and fruit filled with that lovely mineral stream Riesling element. Possibly peach and white / yellow flowers with some spice. Initially palate was very good but not anything truly special. Dry but rich and open creamy approach. Then it really kicks in though with frisson of electricity and zing rising up in the finish. What a finish as well, pretty long
This is so good.

I picked up a case of these and have been slowly moving through them. They're at a beautiful point in their life at the moment, and don't hesitate to give these wines a bit of air - they will blossom and reward you for it!
KPK strikes again, and proves that the Abts Erde is probably the favourite of the GGs on offer (excluding the enigmatic G-Max). Trocken but definitely not too dry, with a wonderful electric zestiness and acidity coming through balanced with floral notes and white fuit. Absolutely wonderful wine and I'm happy to have shared it with some good friends.

Golden yellow, green shimmer --- Nose fruity, saline breeze, ripe yellow fruit, grapefruit, hint of ananas, some herbal aspects, some glue, some flint stone --- Palate smooth, like velvet, then strong acidity coming through accompanied by yellow fruit and citrus notes, some bark, some creaminess, nice green aspects --- Finishes very long in waves flashing back.

2011’s from Keller are simply electric and Abtserde, my favorite bottling is absolutely stunning in this vintage. Abtserde has the power and exoticism of Hubacker and the intense minerality of Morstein. The full package. And each are showcased here seamlessly. After a short decant it bursts with intense juicy layers of stone fruits, wet stones and key lime. The palate is ripping with citrus inflicted acids, killer vibrancy, texture and stunning length. And still so young! Amazing future.

10 years after Riesling tasting - 2011 (Restaurant Waldhorn, Kirchheim, Germany): Glass: Sophienwald Universal Bottle double decanted about 7h before the tasting. Bought at release, perfectly stored. Clear, pale golden color. Now we are talking! Beautiful deep and complex nose. On the palate the usual energy and tension of recent AbtsE years, wrapped in warm, ripe fruit. Wonderful balance and elegance. Great extract and minerality. Long and lingering finish. This is not even close to its full peak and will drink nicely over the next decade. 94+

Tried with the 2019 vdf side by side. This was decanted for 6 hours before putting in 8oz bottles to share. Nose had rich tropical fruit, crushed stones, with some citrus notes. Palate had loads more slate and wet rocks, sweet apple notes, with a slight hint of petrol.

Dinner at Red House. Aired in bottle 5 hours beforehand. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, yellow lemon colour. Legs. Nose is clean, no petroleum this time, pronounced intensity, with aromas of honey, florals and nectar, various white and cream peaches, apricot, stony minerals, saline salt spray. Developing. On the palate, dry, very high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium+ body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of concentrated white and cream peaches, apricot, honey nectar, stony slate minerals, salty saline wet stones. Very long finish. Outstanding quality. Noe marsipan på nese, ellers lite. I munnen moden sitrus, appelsin (uten sødmen). Rund og harmonisk munnfølelse, men uten ungdommens kraft. Fin syrestruktur og harmoni, likevel litt kjedelig. Lukka fase eller over the top?

I've had Abts many times and this was served blind and immediately recognizable. Much richer, and as one friend said, hedonistic, in terms of the profile of the wine. Tropical fruits (apricots), herbs and some white pepper were the sensations I got on this. We drank it out of a white wine glass but in retrospect I think it would have showed a bit better with a chardonnay glass.

Make sure you give this wine proper hours of air in advance, it put on complexity, body and length in a stunning way! The wine is quite complex, yet balanced ending with a long finish. White/yellow fruit, great acidity.
No rush with these, and if open note the advice on HOURS of air in advance!

Keller Abtserde full vertical tasting (2006-2017) (nineOfive, Düsseldorf): *** please understand this note only in context of the whole tasting story *** Glass: Zalto Bordeaux or Universal 2011 was one of the biggest surprised to me! Lots of smokiness and herbs in the nose, which is quite unusual for the Abtserde. Multi-layered and constantly changing in the glass. On the palate a great, almost racy acidity which is surprising for this rather warm vintage. Good grip, round, very juicy. Maybe the most “uncomplicated” vintage. Obviously very young, but already good to drink. 92-93

Keller at his best: phantastic, exotic fruits as pineapple, mango and at the end passionfruit, razorsharp acidity, drinkable at this stage but a treasure over the next 10-15 years, 96+

Phenomenal wine. Not wine but pure spring mountain water. Filigree minerality. Complex, deep, elegant. Many tropical, citrus colors, oriental spices. If to give more of our 1.5-2 hours, It's even difficult to imagine how it will develop. Highly!

An utterly profound wine on the verge of reaching perfection. The 2011 Abtserde is still to be considered young. But of course you can already sense future greatness and the drinking experience is magnificent today too. The nose provides rich lychee, classy lime and citrus zest. The type of flowery nose sometimes experienced in good dry Rieslings is also present. There is also an abundance of minerals. Deep profound wet granite accompanied by a lovely tone of fresh oysters. This certainly is a nose to die for. The palate is perfectly balanced, pristine structure/texture and a beautiful acidity as the hallmark. The final impression is an almost eternal length on the finish. This wine will without slightest doubt continue to age well for around 20 years or more. It is a stunning dry Riesling from one of the best vintages before 2015. A true wow experience comprising both elegance and power.

Definitely Rheinhessen, definitely 2011, with peach, apricot, and a bracing limestone minerality on the nose. Ripe, intense, and focused, with orchard fruit on the palate. There's some weight in the mouth, and acidity could be higher, but the intensity of fruit is incredible. The ripeness and relatively low acidity yield a wine that is accessible today.

First signs of evolution with little firn and fine petrol can be found in 2011. Showing typical characteristics of the warm 2011 vintage. Ripe stone fruit, honey, wax and blood orange as well as dark fruit of red currant and raspberry. Freshly-cut herbs and decent spicyness provide vitality and tension. Already approachable and full of drinking pleasure. Solidly build with fine acidity and tons of fruit promising a bright future. Great combination of refinement and ripeness.

Too late and too little focus to rate, but between 92-94 is probably where I would have landed.
Beautiful nose of classic Riesling, kerosene, butter, apples, citrus fruit, a little tropical notes and plenty of stony minerals. Sky high acidity, with plenty of fruit to round it off. Medium+ body and a fantastic length. Young, but with immense potential. For 750SEK ($90) this is quite close to a bargain, quality-wise!

Great expectations, and finally a wine reception with upswing, after a few wasted journeys in the basement.
Pop`n poor. 12 degrees. Straw colored and bright, clear. Narrow odor image. Opens with air. Fresh and appealing with hints of green apple, lime and minerals. Limestone/slate. Lovely long taste of minerals and elegant acids. Associations of flowers and summer meadows. Lovely acid balance. This has many years ahead. Recognize that there is more in between the line of taste much more. So, eave it ... if you have more. Drinks realy good now, but will drink better in 5 more years I think. Maybe my best Riesling experience so far.

Wow. I've come to expect a lot from this wine in any vintage, and this example lives up to those expectations. It has such a harmonious combination of elegant purity and concentration. Layer after layer of aroma is revealed as the wine aerates and warms. I think I'd be doing it an injustice in trying to rattle off a list of descriptors, so I'll just say that this is a classic example and there is a LOT going on. The flavors evolve to an extent that only happens in truly great wines, and the finish is long and complete, seeming to continue to change even after the wine is gone. I absolutely love it.

Unbelievable depth and minerality, this wine is surely destined for great things. I should not have drunk it off this restaurant's wine list so early in its life, but somebody else would have done it. Peach, lemon, orange, lemon zest. Salty minerality. Great.

Make sure you give this wine proper hours of air in advance, it put on complexity, body and length in a stunning way! The wine is quite complex, yet balanced ending with a long finish. White/yellow fruit, great acidity.
No rush with these, and if open note the advice on HOURS of air in advance!

Abtserde Vertical and some nice add-ons (nine0five and Concept Riesling Düsseldorf): I can't believe but in this flight my preference was 2011 and not 2010. Yellow stone fruits. A nice salinity. Fresher and a more pointed acidity than 2010. But in 2-3 years 2010 will overtake him again. 95

Keller Abtserde full vertical tasting (2006-2017) (nineOfive, Düsseldorf): *** please understand this note only in context of the whole tasting story ***
Glass: Zalto Bordeaux or Universal
2011 was one of the biggest surprised to me! 92-93

Ingo's Birthday Clash 20.10.2018; 10/21/2018-10/22/2018 (Jörg Müller Sylt): double magnum,
Spicy and fresh, but an acidity problem, too short in the finish for abtserde. Maybe too young 92-93
