This was a good wine that tasted great but loses points for not tasting very Sauv Blanc. It was rich and tart with some mineral characteristics and expressive fruit that seemed more orchard and less tropical. It stood up well to the meals we had with it.

Dinner at Dino's (Dino's - Washington, DC): Another great bottle. This is easily one of my favorite California Sauvignon Blancs. Flowers, sweet herbs, guava and lime on the nose. I love the crisp acid and the plush texture. Guava, apricot and sour patch kids mix with mineral, white flowers and honey. The peanut and hazelnut notes from the oak and acacia wood are well-integrated and nuanced. Delicious stuff, this won over everyone at dinner. Sad to say it's my last bottle.

This wine is pale straw in the glass with a marvelous nose of pear. On the palate, citrus, melon, honey, and more subtle notes of toasted oak, vanilla and flowers. As the wine warms and breathes, a cardamon aroma and flavor emerge. The grass and green onion flavors, which you'll invariably taste in New Zealand SB, are conspicuously absent here. The wine has a medium-length, but crisp mineral-driven finish. I understand that some percentage of the wine was fermented in acacia wood and wonder if that wood could have imparted the cardamon flavor. I note that I also detected cardamon in a Bedrock Syrah. On the other hand, is it the use of native yeasts to ferment the wine that is responsible for the spice aroma and flavor? My musings aside, this is an outstanding SB and considerably better than the Bedrock cuvee, which is the California equivalent of a white Bordeaux. The flavor and finish do suffer the next day, so I wouldn't think of cellaring this beauty.

Good, solid California sauvignon blanc that's built on the dry style. Clean, clear, pale yellow in the glass with a pleasant nose. It's missing just a bit of acidity to help it "zing" in the mouth.

Ditto with other reviews... this is a very nice SB and not in the normal grassy style which many come to expect. The color of this wine does have a yellow/green hue with a nose of citrus notes. Nice crisp acidity on the palate with a sharp, but lasting finish. Nice.

Pale straw yellow green color with pear, white flower, ocean breeze, citrus peel, and honey aromas. On the palate, its dryish, medium-bodied, with medium+ acidity, and a great mouthfeel owing to battonage. It shows peach, guava, citrus and subtle honey flavors with a clean medium-long finish.
The wine was fermented entirely in barrel, with roughly 5% being new Acacia wood. The wine fermented with native yeasts.

Another very good bottle. Ripe enough to avoid the grassy, green notes that the varietal can acquire, yet not ripe enough to be a Chardonnay-wanna-be. Minimal oak influence here. Citric, melony, yet I was left a bit wanting for more complexity.

I think this is the kind of wine that CA does well, but seems to ignore. Similar to the Gewurtz from Anderson Valley, CA does great with flavorful white wines with good acidity and some weight (that aren't Chardonnay). Kudos to Morgan for producing something distinctly CA.

Reticent, imprecise nose. Fruit character ripened to the point of obliteration. I like Bedrock's reds a lot, and I really liked the albarino (Abrente), but sauvignon loses more varietal character the riper it is, and this is ripe! The high alcohol prevents it from being refreshing. I like the Loire, and New Zealand (and South Africa) for sauvignon, but I've had many California sauvignons I'ved liked better than this one, often for less money. Harvest this earlier, Morgan!

Layered aromas of pear, citrus, herbs, and a hint of stone fruit. The palate has herbs/citrus up front then quince & a bit of stone on the finish. Medium acid keeps the finish lively. Drinks far too easily, nice wine.

This one had an expressive nose of pears, apples, stone fruit, citrus and slight herbal note (perhaps mint or eucalyptus). Palate primarily featured yellow apples, citrus and the herbs. Little bits of tropical fruit, ripe green apple, and grass broaden the lemon-lime-soda palate and make for a solid new world SB. Really hits its stride after an hour and not too cold, but there is a temperature tipping point where this wine loses its snap. I would like more chalk or minerals and just a touch more freshness. Drink now.

Consumed over 2 days, note from day 2. Nose: Medium-plus expressiveness, citrus - lemon, tropical - mango, and crushed rock. Palate: Medium bodied, tropical fruit attack - mango, canned pears, balanced out nicely with minerals and acid thru the mid-palate to back-end. Much more sweet fruit here than in the 2010 version - I like this a bit more, very nice.

Smell: Floral, peaches, warm, fruity--surprisingly few mineral notes for a sauv blanc.
Taste: Quite intriguing, and very different in terms of the sauv blanc I have had before. Starts fruity (peaches) then turns a bit weird (the reduction?), almost like a pilsner in the aftertaste. After some air the aftertaste changed more to honey than the pilsner flavor. A very interesting wine!

I think I drank this too cold and drinking it only with food didn't allow me to taste it correctly. It seemed to lack acidity and for that reason tasted a little fat and lacked energy and brightness. Nice fruit flavors, but nothing to launch them. Reading other notes, I can't believe it actually lacks acidity, so I'm looking forward to my other bottle of this because I'm sure it was me, and not the wine. Love Bedrock wines!

A Saturday of 2012 Wines: First bottle of my Bedrock order, and what a way to start. This SB has great aromas: guava, lime, green apple, mixed with salt, mineral and a hint of sweet basil. Mouth-puckering acid meets creamy body on the palate. Flavors of sour patch kid candies, juiy green apple, guava and a nice mineral edge. Just a hint of hazelnut (some of the wine saw French oak and acacia wood). Long finish. I really like the combination of styles and flavors this wine shows. Really solid SB that would appeal to a lot of palates.

Popped and drank outside on a nice, warm, Maine, May afternoon. Floral, fruity nose that gave away to apple. As it opened up it was like drinking a granny smith apple in wine form. Supple coating with a 20 sec linger on the tongue and mouth.

Similar to Bevan's Kick Ranch SB's, really nice balance with huge extraction to boot. Alcohol is high for the varietal but you can't tell. It's very american in style but that's not a fault, great value.

I did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did. Very much not NZ or Loire, but a really good Sauvignon Blanc in the CA style. Shows the best of Bedrock, as it is a traditional CA wine using good grapes and good winemaking (at a reasonable price).

A bunch of wine with non-Geeks: More typical of what I expect from California Sauvignon Blanc (in a good way). Light golden in color. The nose has some grassiness to it, some limes and some alfalfa. On the palate, some fresh and vibrant lemon/lime notes. A rich, slick texture. Drinks very easily on its own. Gone quickly.

Another fantastic wine from Morgan! Grapefruit nose, light palate with citrus and vibrant acidity. Roundness (others have described as creaminess) on mid-palate that brings this sauvignon blanc to another level of complexity. Well done!

Was a big hit at a friend's birthday celebration. In my opinion, it is actually still too young and will be much better in about 6 months.

Opened, poured, and drank with grilled hamburgers. Paired well but enjoyed it more by itself over the next couple of hours. Good balance, nice acidity, great mouthfeel, with a good medium length finish.

Crisp acid, nice sweetness, on a creamy like backbone. Great in the mouth with a smooth finish.

Outstanding. Hard to imagine a California Sauvignon Blanc being substantially better. Very well balanced with ample fruit backed with crisp acidity and a hint of untoasted marshmallow in the background. Delicous.

Delicious. Fresh and vibrant. Great fruit. Consistent with earlier bottle. Nice QPR. Mine will be gone by August. July. Maybe June.

Citrus and herbs, with a hint of melon. Finishes a bit chalky, but this is a very nice SB.

I find this strangely tropical on both nose and palate and not at all crisp. Kinda odd for a bedrock white. maybe bottle variation so will report after opening another one.

Very nice wine. Light golden color. Nose of lemon, lime and grapefruit. Round mid palate with complex nuances. Medium plus finish.

More lemon than grapefruit, not very grassy, medium full bodied with a layer of creaminess on the palate.

If I could go back in time, I'd back the truck up on an order of this bottling. Perfect pairing on a hot summer day with some tilapia for lunch. Notes consistent with others here. Citrus and grapefruit with a nice balance of acidity. Great stuff!

Well done!

This is definitely not a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Lots of Acid, lacks the touch of sweetness and grassy nose of NZ Sauv Blanc. Citrus flavors dominate. This is a very good and unique wine, that needs food.

Will never be confused for a NZ SB. Smoky citrus notes with a creamy undertone. Some upside potential here.

Pretty, floral, perfumed nose. Ripe lemon and lime and fresh cut flowers. Less rich and more focused with slightly more acidity than I remember in the last two vintages. Long citrus finish.

So I didn't order that many bottles this year as I was a little disappointed in the 2011 SB, but if this first bottle holds true - I wish I ordered more. Nice crisp acid with creamy fruit notes.

My favorite Kick Ranch so far. Very rich, but with enough acid to balance it out. Walks the line between traditional SB and Chard, good stuff.
