10 years after Riesling tasting - 2012 (Restaurant Holz und Feuer, Kirchheim, Germany): Glass: Sophienwald Universal Perfect bottle, bought at release. Double decanted about 8h before. Clear, pale golden color. Very muted nose, not showing much. On the palate a beautiful wine, but compared to the Wittmann he completely lost in every way. Lacks the tension and energy I usually admire in this wine. Probably this wine needs a decade to develop. It certainly has all the components. But today it was simply a disappointment on a very high level. 92 (++)

A small pour generously offered by diners at the next table. Medium yellow. Medium weight, glycerine, and dry. Botanical herbs and citrus zest. Long and harmonious.

Had this wine with The Little Horse. It is still a young wine, probably need another 3-5 years to open up. We decanted the wine throughout our 3-hour lunch, and the wine certainly opens up a lot better in later stage. Compare to other Keller’s GG vineyards wines we had recently, I prefer Keller’s abtserde over Morstein. Morstein to me is much more richer on both nose and palate, while Abtserde is lot more mineral and elegant.

Klar, strågul. Rik på nese med toner av aprikos, lime, voks og appelsinskall. Aromatisk, tett, konsentrert og mildt viskøs frukt. Sval sødme. Frisk syre. Smalner svakt mot enden av smakskurven. Tørr, aromatisk utgang med fin lengde.

(at Weinhaus Stetter - Stuttgart) Glorious bottle of wine that is just an infant. Light golden color. The apricot, floral and mineral dominated nose really comes together after 30 minutes in the decanter. Still tight, but shows great depth, youthful complexity and a memorable finish. Complete wine. Great Tasting at D'Vine Düsseldorf with 16 Crus out of Westhofen (Aulerde, Kirchspiel, Moorstein) in Rhinehessen. All from 2012. Four of them get a 94, one a 94+.
For me the 2nd Best. passionfruit, pineapple, a lot of crispy acidity with fine elegant fruit and long finish. give him 10 more years. maybe than 97-98

Virkelig flott vin! 95p.

Blind im Glas - enttäuschend. Unharmonisch, fast künstlich und quietschig.

Ingo's Birthday Clash 20.10.2018; 10/21/2018-10/22/2018 (Jörg Müller Sylt): Passionfruit and mango are dominating so I would guess probably Keller but never Morstein. Too foregrounded and fruit influenced. For me less powerful than Abtserde and not so much density. 94

Two cases of Keller Grosse Lagen 2012 plus X (Concept Riesling Düsseldorf): Broader and creamier than Hipping 2012 GG Auction but not so fine and elegant. More austere and mineralic than Hipping in the nose. In the palate more like Burgundy with some nuts in the late palate. 94+

Vin I Nord Fine Wine Fall BYO; 10/28/2017-10/29/2017 (Tord Marius): A suboptimal bottle? Sweet typical nose. Viscous palate with overripe fruit where watery pears with brown spots are the most obvious. Short and poor.
