Well-balanced, medium smoked tannins. Dominant cherry fruit, secondary leather taste. Drink best with food. Agree with others, that it will evolve further for the next five years.

Enjoyed over 3-4 hours from decanter. Dark cherry, dark raspberry, dried fruits and a fair amount of tertiary: olive, rust, smoked meat. Tannins lively but nicely integrated. Paired with carbonara pasta which really elevated the wine.

1 hour decant. Bottom line, this wine needs another 5 years in the cellar. Well structured tannins and just starting to show some secondary fruit. Big and bold. Going to be a gem in 5-10 years. Don't open this wine yet. I regret opening it, but I have been waiting 10 years. Right now, 93-94 with 1-2 points upside over time.

A lovely darkish red color and a nose that has started towards its secondary aromatics. However, it’s still powerful on the palate and good vertical structure in the back. Impressive wine. Drink it.

after 1 hour decant. Still too young. Needs another 5 years. Still fairly primary with secondary fruit starting to show. Great integration beginning. Strong tannins. It's a nice wine that is simply too young to drink. 94 for now with another 2 points upside likely over time. Pair this big boy with bold flavors .

Semi-transparent brightly jewelled ruby. Nose is beautifully perfumed, deep sun-warmed oak trees and walnut trees, red earth, hints of truffle, cedar shingles. Palate is beautifully precise, linear, fresh, structured, sour cherry and heavily tannic at this stage of its development but beautifully proportionate, balanced and quite captivating. Needs an 8 hour decant at this stage of its life but even better come back in 10 years time. 93 and my favourite wine of the night.

Very elegant wine in a good place. Decanted a few hours and enjoyed over a few more. Firm, but elegant tannins. Lingering mouth feel. Flavors of berries, some spice and olives. Very special wine.

This wine is still in the early part of its evolution. It smells as beautiful as any Barolo I’ve ever had. The attack is nice but the wine loses a little something in the middle. Some thing that’s sure to pick up some weight over time. But the finish is astounding the mouth feel is sublime. This is a great wine now but will be amazing in the future

This bottle was consumed early on Thanksgiving Day. I had an opportunity to join my brother outside and be properly socially distanced with a rare sunny mid 50 degree day on Thanksgiving to watch the early, traditional, Lions game before returning home for a quiet dinner with my immediate family.
This bottle was one of my first 100 point wines I had in my cellar (WE 100). I buried it and didn't even consider it until the 10 year mark. I let my brother chose the bottle to enjoy on this rare sunny Thanksgiving day. He made a great choice! I had planned on letting it sit a while longer but was good with his choice because it was within the the cellar tracker drinking window and the recent reviews were enough encouragement for me to open this bottle on Thanksgiving.
The wine was decanted for 3 hours then poured back into the cleaned bottle for transport. We used Conterno Sensory Glasses, intended to be used for Barolo. There was a beautiful bouquet. The prominent flavors were of black cherry, licorice, spices and hints of balsamic. The tannins were still very present but they were smoothed out a bit with no hard edges after a long decant. The wine had very good balance. It is drinking very nicely now but has many more years of life ahead. It has room to improve, may be not to the 100 point marker but I could definately see this wine drinking closer to the 97+ range in another 5-10 years. Unfortunately, it was my only bottle but I don't regret popping the cork, as it was a very enjoyable bottle of wine.

Ruby red. Beautiful and complex on the nose with cherries, strawberries and a very delicate "vosne like" spice. Some balsamic notes. Earthy and some white truffle. Detailed, focused and elegant. Very elegant tannins and very complete on the palate. Still quite primary. Lang and beautiful ending. Great acid. A poetic and fabulous Barolo. I d keep my remaining bottles for a decade for even more complexity. Great wine, great vintage. 95P.

Medium garnet robe, nose of red and black cherry, hint of rose, vanilla, tar. In the mouth tart and tannic, a little astringent. Needs more time. Not sure its going to be a great wine, disappoints compared to other PS i've had at the same stage.

This wine is already drinking extremely well. Very refined and well balanced. Tannins are soft and the flavors are robust. Blackberry, raspberry, even strawberry. After about an hour in the decanter it really came alive. This was a gift, but I will be ordering more for my cellar! A+

2015 New York Wine Experience Trip; 10/19/2015-10/27/2015 (New York City, NY): Licorice, chocolate-covered cherries, lavender and leather are front and center on this deep ruby/red wine. Full-bodied, fresh, seamlessly alcoholic and with big fine-grained tannins, it stays solid in the middle and has oak which is so beautifully integrated. Building in the middle, it closes long but flexes some tannic grip. There is no denying the greatness of this one, but it will require some additional cellar time to fully strut its stuff. Drink 2020-2035.

Paolo Scavino Wines (La Pizza Fresca Ristorante): A young feminine barolo, reminiscent of sandy soil wines. It shows a soft texture and perfumed aromatics of strawberries, roses, citrus fruit. This wine is remarkably approachable now in stark contrast to the austere and extremely tannic '10 Carobric.

3 hour decant, another 1-2 hours back in bottle over dinner. Great nose, more fruit than earth/tar/leather. Rich, soft, none of the tart grippiness you sometimes get with young baroli, tannins there just not jagged. Very good now, didn't get the sense this would develop massively over time, but certainly has some upside. Not sure it's worth the freight, but very enjoyable.

This is one extremely disappointing bottle of "Barolo." I don't feel good saying that because I really wanted to like this. The reports are that Scavino had pulled back on the oak and is just aiming for a pure style without harsh tannins, rather than an overtly moderniste style. That's something I can get on board with in theory, but the result here is a big bottle of nothin'. It had some rubbery aromas which I ordinarily figure is a sign of reduction, although they stuck around even through hours of decanting and in the leftovers days later (of which there was a lot - five of us couldn't muster enough interest to finish even half this bottle on day one). Beyond that it was just anonymous red fruit and soft fluffy tannins, so I guess they pulled off what they were shooting for from a structural perspective but this is a wine that could have come from anywhere. The only way a wine like this is worthwhile is if some character will emerge with the requisite time in the cellar, but given that the whole purpose of this style is to avoid the need for so much time in the cellar, I am not sure what purpose it serves.
