Bought on release at the domaine and cellared since.
Dark berry fruits, iodine, lavender, sage, and leather on the nose. This is a dark fruited CdP, savory and sappy, with iodine, rare meat, and violets on the palate. Mid plus weighted with good depth and breadth. Finishes long with herbal notes. Outstanding but less good than what I thought was my last bottle 3 years ago.

Single piece cork, no seepage Pruney, tired aromas, a bit of garrigue. Opens up a touch but remains unexciting Palate was also tired, finish was slightly bitter and the flavours were cooked. I have had a fair amount of this cuvee, this bottle was clearly subpar. Lot 2603 14.5% abv

Now fully mature, the bouquet comes with kirsch liquor, some underwood and sandalwood. Medium to full bodied its quite fresh and not over the top showing a good balance. Should stay at this level for another 5-10 years.

Best showing by far for this wine. It has put on some weight, very smooth, very fruity, no unpleasant aromas or flavors. Dry, dark maroon in color, great balance. A little short on complexity, but that may come with further aging - however the tannins seem resolved, so not sure. Great drinking now though. It's been a pleasure drinking every one of our stash over the last 14 years.

Dark berry fruits, lavender, thyme, meat, black olives and iodine on the nose. Full bodied and structured on the palate, with outstanding balance and a great mix of savory and fruit. Power with balance. I really liked this, and it showed better than the Clos des Papes served with it. Sadly my last bottle.

Medium garnet in color. A bit of game on the nose, along with some blackberry, thyme, sous-bois, and spice. Dry and silky on the palate. Medium acidity. I cannot sense over-ripeness but there is a note of kirsch. It feels fresh and weightless. The finish is herbal and of mid-length. Very nice CdP that has reached peak of maturity in great shape. It should be drinkable for the next handful of years. If you have any, I'd pop now.

20 minutes open to blow off some funk and the wine is still singing 1 1/2 hours later. Rich dark fruits with so much earthy, herbal, meaty complexity, all in a silky long package, nary a bit of hardness to be seen. Lovely aromas, lovely flavors.
Enjoy! ( I know I will with my remaining bottles. )

Fully mature, the offers freshness in the sweet kirsch notes, wet earth, herbs de Provence, pepper and black raspberry notes. Soft in texture and still light on its feet, there is no reason not to drink this up over the next few years.

Heady stuff. Earth, roasted notes, herbs, and slightly cooked raspberries and strawberries on the nose. On the palate, fresher raspberry and darker fruit flavors balanced by white pepper, more earth, and some unexpectedly firm but not coarse tannins. For me at least, this is unlikely to get better.

This wine is an exemplar of what made Southern Rhone wines famous across Europe before New World places claimed that crown, including California and Australia - their outstandingly delicious fruit taste. Even when these wines are not black or big, they still just taste so good you hardly miss the power. Here that great taste is the red fruit flavor of Grenache, which is not exactly but is fairly close to red raspberry, red plum, and even seedless red table grapes. Drinking well now with a good background of acid and tannin, and will continue to drink as well for at least a few more years.

Evidently some severe bottle variation here. Opened and decanted several hours before dinner. Very dark red color. Nose is black fruit, repeating on the palate. No plummy, pruney or oxidative notes. Not terribly complex but a good wine that can hold for some time still.

18th Annual Lyon 10 Year Retrospective (Lyon Down Inn): A little lighter than most this evening, it had a Burgundian palate feel, with notes of kirsch, leather, garrigue, and anise. Tannins more obvious on day 2, 90pts.

4th Saturday Group brown bagger (M&R's): Initially this is a bit strange and funky and herbal with a subtle clay note too. Sour red and dark fruit, quite acidic and hollow on the palate. Develops a bouillon cube note then something very manufactured/chemically, almost like petroleum jelly. Clearly a flawed bottle.

Disappointing. Even if this is not jammy, this is very ripe and lacks nuances. Figs and prunes, beef jerky with leather notes. We had the bottle open for quite a few days and this was somehow of a rollercoaster ride with some days where the wine was surprisingly much more elegant. Still I'm not so sure what to think of this wine.

nose: perfumed and balanced with a savory quality and dark red fruits, garrigue, black fruits, and some dark berry compote as well. Nice depth, but shows that it is a base wine.
taste: medium bodied with nice supporting tannins still. The feel is very nice and balanced with very good tones of dark red cherries, some raspberry liqueur, with some spices and herbs.
overall: It lacks some depth on both the nose and palate, but is a nice CdP. This had about an hour to open up and it seemed to do the trick.

Still a bit youthful, with ripe raspberry, garrigue, and vanilla which adds a confectionary note. This is a powerful primary fruit driven wine that finishes with a touch of heat on the finish. Hopefully these components will integrate over time; right now, it seems a bit straightforward.

Opened five hours prior to consumption. Improved throughout the evening. An initial gamey funkiness gradually gave way to / transformed into a beautiful smokey incense quality which complicated the graceful red cherry-strawberry fruit very nicely on the nose.
