First bottle was obviously off, just reductive flawed notes. Opened my other to confirm and second bottle was great, cherry and a hint of cola on the nose. Bright fruit, cherry some all slice on the palate, great finish. Drinking very well now not sure there's too much upside to holding.

PnP, consumed over 2 hours. Appearance: Clear, pale garnet with browning edges. Nose: Clean, medium intensity with developed aromas of dried cherry, raspberry, pine needles, shoe leather, and earth. Palate: Dry, medium+ acid, medium- tannin, medium body, 13.5% abv, medium intensity with developed flavors of dried cherry, spice, and leather with a medium+ finish. Overall an excellent - superb wine excelling in balance and length with very good intensity and complexity. Feels ready to go today but still has the acidic backbone to drink well for another 2-3 years.

12 Blind Wines in Charlotte (Charlotte, NC): This wine is in a fantastic place. Slo-ox for 60 minutes before sampling. Enjoyably fragrant nose of cherries and jam. Smooth, plush mouthfeel. Resolved red cherries balanced lovingly with a note of strawberry and plum on the palate. Delicate, long finish. Everything about this wine was in harmony and drank fantastically for many hours into the night. 3 Wine of the Night Votes, 4 overall votes in Top 3; Clear #2 wine on the night with 11 pts overall (next highest score was 7pts).

Aromatic as soon as it was opened. In a really good place. Cherry, raspberry, slate and rose petal aromas, red fruit dominate. Cherry, raspberry, some darker fruit, minerals, rose petal, some stems? Great balance, smooth , long finish.

PnP. A little tight initially, but opened quickly. Cherry, raspberry, slate and rose petal on the nose. Bright cherry, raspberry, some darker fruit, minerals and rose petal on the palate. Needs a minimum of 45 minute decant but really begins to open at 90 minutes. Wonderfully aromatic bouquet of lilacs and raspberries on the nose resolves into a smooth mouthfeel of still youthful soft blueberries, apple, and strawberry. The finish lingers lovingly with a savory balance of these balanced fruits. An underrated aspect of “aged” Kutch Pinots is they display greater depth when paired with food. Snacking on brie before moving to a medium rare rib-eye and baked sweet potato turned a fine wine into a truly pleasurable experience. At 6 years, this wine has many years of life in it with a savory balance of strawberries, soft blueberries resolving into a lengthy enjoyable finish.

After an hour+ of air balances out nicely. Nose of dark red fruit and baking spices, over a rich palate of more cherry, and tense spicy finish. Still a bit of mid palate heaviness and over ripeness. Balanced enough to be enjoyable but very California Pinot.

Lovely wine. It was tight initially - this wine (not surprisingly) needs time. Lovely berry and sage smells, and after awhile, blueberry pie. This has good weight and acidity, distinctly California pinot. Good match to a mushroom soup with Gruyere. I preferred this to 2014 Falstaff I had a few nights ago, but I had more time with this. I think these Kutch wines need ample breathing time and consideration.

Decanted for 2 hours. Very tight when it was opened. Time has been very good to this wine. Previously had some harsh tannins and they have softened a lot. Cherry, raspberry, slate and rose petal on the nose. mainly bright cherry, raspberry, some darker fruit, minerals and rose petal on the palate. Good acidity gives great balance to the wine. Long smooth finish. Drinking really well now with a decant, but room to improve over the next 5+ years.

Tasting notes from Day 2. Overall this wine was super enjoyable and drinking well now. I recommend giving it at least an hour of air time (as of this writing) as the wine only improved over the first few hours and did not fall off at all on day 2. If anything, the wine is more integrated after 24 hours of opening. The nose is perfumed, great velvety mouthfeel, solid fruit, and integrated polished tannins.

This has really blossomed since the last bottle in 2017. About an hour after opening, this has turned into total perfume. Fragrant, silky, good fruit, and a light finish. Drinking very well now.

Poking around the cellar, realized it had been since 2015 when I last had one of these. Done deal. Opened this a few hours ago, put a light chill on it and worked my way through a glass or so. This started off a little heavy and clunky, but the air really helped the wine evolve. Like the 2015 bottle, this shows a floral quality. The fruit, the palate of the wine, is what shines for me. The fruit is a mix of jammy raspberry and cherry, with some grippy slate that tightens the finish, along with an inflection of herb from the whole cluster. The finish then reflects a pure cherry quality, a kind of piercing red fruit. This is really good, but air has a way of working magic for wine so with more than 1/2 bottle left for tomorrow, plenty more to go for another look.......revisit a day later, some of the Bohan rose petal appears. And, I appreciate the fruit imprint on this wine. This vintage for Bohan is more concentrated than usual, which darkens the usual lighter red fruits of Bohan. Putting the fruit, savory note, along with the acid and the solid structure, this should last some more years. Very good Bohan.

Good nose. Lots of cherry and bright fruit on the palate. Nice, and could be really good if everything comes together. I think this is my only bottle, but if I had another I'd hold for a couple of years.

I struggled a bit with this wine. Really aromatic when first opened, with good cherry fruit, but the tannins were rough and it finished acidic. I'll check back with one of my other two bottles in a few years to see if this better integrates. Recommend holding for now.

Given the tasting notes that have appeared so far, I was somewhat concerned about this wine - but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. Pop and pour. In the glass, clear medium-dark ruby red. On the nose, cherries, floral aromatics leaning to clove, and a hint of smoke. On the palate, smooth texture, fruit-forward and young, with noticeable acidity and floral elements that show more like rosewater than clove. This is stylistically quite different from other Kutch PNs, but I enjoyed it just as much as the other bottlings.

California Vacation (Sonoma, SF, Monterey); 8/5/2017-8/12/2017: Tasted at winery. Nice red cherry fruit, some herbal notes, and dark flowers.. Bright acids are a little bit forward in a tasting sample, but could work with food. Personally, my least favorite of the '14s, but still solid.

My favorite Kutch bottling to date. Fresh, crunchy tart red fruits, menthol, and forest floor. Great flavor with more concentration on the mid palate than I've been used to lately with Kutch. Sometimes they are a little thin for my liking, but this bottle is in a good place, and will get better in future.

Typical of modern day old world styling of Pinots in California, this had a translucent ruby color. The nose was terrific with a heavy strawberry dominance and a bit of earthy minerality. For me, however, the wines terrific balance of earthy and red berry flavors lacked complexity and acidity lending it an easy to drink characteristic of less expensive Pinots. A well made, well executed version of California Pinot Noir that is utterly forgettable. I think the tight drinking window that cellar trackers give this wine is indicative of their indifference.

Eye: Crimson Nose: Red fruits, tree bark and menthol or clove Palate: Raspberry, cherry, underbrush with spice with med + acidity and a med finish. The wine did have a touch of warmth on the back end.
Overall this wine was very nice. It had great structure but needs time to balance out. Looking forward to see this come together in a few years. Enjoy!

First time trying the 2014 Bohan, and it is decidedly too early. At this point there is a distinct drying element on the palate that makes the wine too tight to really express itself. There are some nice red fruit, floral and herb aromas, but it's needs some time to unwind. I am going to let this wine sit for another year or so before I try another bottle. Judgement reserved at this point.
Very translucent red to the eye. On the nose strawberries and a bit of earthiness. On the palate it overwhelms me with a sense of cola very light with a short finish.

Sandhi and Kutch wines tasting with Sashi Moorman and Jamie Kutch (London Cru): Apparently this was a very difficult fermentation and jamie had to warm up the barrels a couple of times to get the yeasts going, he didn't sound super happy with this wine. The nose was quite ripe and rich and the palate more depth than the Sonoma coast wine as you'd expect, it's good a little confected note to it and is a little high toned, there's a fair bit of interest to th wine and it's good a good finish

This is my last visit with the 2014s, having re-worked through the others (Sonoma Coast, Falstaff and McDougall) in the past month. I opened this about 3 hours ago, no decant. Poured the first small glass at room temp, 66 degrees. Geez, the aromatics on this thing are great: stems, pepper, smoke and something floral. The palate is what really got my attention. Smooth, silky, just the most gorgeous, polished cherry fruit, simply pure. With the cherry, which is the dominant player, is strawberry and as best as I can describe it, a liquefied minerality that made me truly stop and pause. god, so this such a complete opposite experience to the bottle I had six weeks ago, almost like they are two different wines...with the chill on it, really just a cooling a few degrees, this is as good, just as expected a little firmer. The tannin shows up more and the wine is a little more slatey and tense. The fruit also darkens more, think now black cherry versus the red cherry from earlier. Still, this just drinks with such flavor and energy, so good. More for tomorrow...a day later, this stuff is just crazy to drink. At once, slick cherry, then the next moment a savory black cherry, the next moment something pure and exotic in flavor. There is plenty of fruit, structure and stuffing here so the drink window on this will go out for some time. Lots to like here.

Opened at 2PM, tried immediately and then re-tasted several hours later over dinner. 100% whole cluster, no new wood, 13.5% abv. And, like all the 2014s, was bottled in late August 2015. For the early tasting, this showed a richness that was similar to the Sonoma Coast and what my notes said 'new barrel' tannin. Given this saw neutral oak, chalk that up to being some other component. This also has the intensity of the '14 McDougall but it lacks the polish and definition of that wine, instead here being a bit one dimensional. Maybe air and re-tasting over dinner later would help it. When I revisited the wine over dinner, it still came across the same, lacking definition. It exhibited a bing cherry fruit, acidity and the finish was pretty rugged. But here is the difference, in comparison to the '14 Sonoma Coast. That wine is more rambunctious and forward, whereas this Bohan is just simply coiled up, with the raw materials yet to weave together. As good as the '13 Bohan is evolving, I would expect this to go the same way. Of note, the '13 is about 1.2% lower in ABV than this '14.

pretty color of dark ruby with the most purple of edges that seem to glow. The nose is haunting with the freshest black raspberries and dark strawberries. There is a super high-tone to this most fragrant nose. Palate shows a superbly knitted Pinot with so many layers. Deeply rich but yet lithe on the tongue, this mesmerizes the senses. For such a youthful wine it shows some playfulness; it'e elegant and focused. After 10 minutes I get this amazing Violet candy thing (Choward's) that I really really dig. It's intensity shoots from the glass and if you hold the glass to your nose long enough you catch the exact moment it turns down and goes to a sassparilla. Crazy huh? Tannins are well hidden but clearly in place and balance is one with itself. Another few minutes and the sassparilla thing comes across the palate left to right...no right to left. Finish is long and robust. I gotta tell you, this is certainly a unique (to me) Pinot experience that I can get hooked on. wow!

I gotta tell you, this is certainly a unique (to me) Pinot experience that I can get hooked on. wow!
