D+0h: a tiny bit of deposit in the filter and also in the bottle, smells of blackberry and raspberry D+3,5h: purple red colour, smells of blackberry, violets and eucalyptus, has a little bit of residual sugar, so not completely dry, smooth in the mouth, medium body, in the mouth blackberry, violets and raspberry, in the aftertaste violets, blackberry and a little bit of acidity, good length (30 sec), good red wine, yet reminds me more of a Rioja than a Bordeaux, it’s kind of un-Bordeaux-like. With Bordeaux of that particular bottle age (six years) I would have expected aromas of forest floor or barnyard instead.

Wow. Better each time I drink this overperforming wine. Totally consistent with my last note but even better. Super-perfumed, high -pitched, cool, and in perfect balance. Peak in 2 years. Will be great for eight.
Encouraged by the positive notes here I opened a bottle and then a second one on the following day. I can only agree, the wine is ready to drink and delicious. Best QPR.

Popped and poured. Pretty darn good right out of the gate. Excellent black ruby. Red fruit and minerals in the nose. Soft, feminine fruit in the mouth, with excellent richness, and a bit of chocolate. This is an excellent wine for the money. Hard to think of another wine that matches this kind of QPR. 5-13-16-8: 92/100.

I really enjoyed this bottle. Last of 6, I'm a bit sad, but looking forward to making this an every vintage value selection. A no guilt pop-n-pour, solid wine with a bit of leftover prime rib in the grill pan. Red and black fruit, medium-full body, easy drinking enjoyable wine. When I say no guilt, I mean grab the bottle and enjoy, no special occasion, just drink and enjoy.

I just loved this wine tonight. You know how sometimes the wine, the food, and the mood just meld into each other to perfection? That was this wine tonight with oven-roasted Italian meatballs (NO red sauce) . It’s a cool, minty, sleek, and compact glass of wine. A lot of cleanly delineated stuff going on here. Really well put-together! Peak 2024-30.

Lovely deep ruby. On the nose bramble, earth, blackcurrants, blackberries, toast, cinnamon. On the palate the wine is dry with medium plus acidity, medium plus fine ripe tannins, medium plus body and medium plus flavor intensity of bramble, earth, blackcurrants, blackberries, toast, cinnamon, granite. Finish lingers w/ black fruits. This is a lovely well structured wine that can go another 10 yrs at least but is lovely now. Great QPR.

Medium-bodied, round, and with a minty, leafy, spicy edge to the ripe, red fruits and thyme on the nose and palate, this is fully ready for its prime-time drinking window. Drink from 2022-2030.

Popped and poured. Got better and better as it aired. Dark blood red color. Good red tears. Nose has a lot going on, with red fruit, iodine, dusty tannin (round and grippy, nice), developing more complexity as it goes along. Lovely wine in the mouth, smooth, silky, with mocha fruit. This has a real presence, and is already drinking beautifully. The experts say this will last for many years, and they may be right, I don't know, I don't have enough experience with this producer. BUT: The wine is an absolute steal. You couldn't find a Cabernet from anywhere else to match this at the price, I'd put money on it. 5-13-16-8: 92/100.

I have a few half-bottles I bought for just $10, and tonight it’s ridiculously good for the price. Seems to me like a new-world style. Alcohol 14%. Super-dark color. Thick sort of juice. Dark but ripe and full berries on the nose. Still unresolved tannins which dominate the finish, but anyway went well with my seared steak. I would like to see this in a blind contest against the 2009 Pichon-Baron that disappointed me two years ago. I am going to keep an eye out for this producer.
This juice is only about 3 years out from ready and should easily last many years beyond that... Decent concentration and tannins are close to resolved. 89-91+ potential... I found this to be best after about 2 hours in the decanter.

Used these for a blind virtual / zoom tasting; poured into 4 oz bottles the day before the tasting, and then distributed to our Delaware Valley Chaine members across the Philadelphia area. Easily identifiable in the blind tasting vs 01 Togni, 05 GPL and 08 Gazin; COVID-19 has everyone a bit stressed out, so I wanted to give our members at least one layup! Youthful purple core with no bricking. Notes of ripe black and red fruits, with hints of earth and spice box. Medium bodied, good concentration, ripe texture, good balance. Nice QPR.

(2/6/20) This Haut-Medoc was superb from PnP, but really started to open up with thirty minutes in the glass. The nose was rich, and the palate showed dusty, ripe tannins; very good concentration; and medium acidity. It was also silky in the mouth and exceptionally well balanced, with none of the relatively high alcohol peeking through on the very respectable finish; 14% abv. (***/15.5/91)

Ripe and rich in appearance. Solid and extracted. Nice, cool nose of mint, eucalyptus, black fruit, and graphite. Tight on palate, as you’d expect at this point; some green herb on a moderately tannic finish. Best part of this wine currently is the nose, which should be beautiful in a few years. Overall, well-made and should have a good future in the 91ish range. I will not try again until 2022.

Had at Martins. This is coming along nicely. Bottle open for a week. Mulberries. And slightest of vanilla. Powerful fruit with some licorice in there still. Beginning to show some leather. Still too young. Hold.

First time I've tried this producer, and I'm impressed. The 2015 has intense, sweet cassis fruit with cedary tannins and dark chocolate on the medium finish. The alcohol, tannins, and acidity are nicely in balance. This is drinking well now and should get better.

This is a great producer. They produce wines that are true to form in old school fashion. This Haut Medoc is currently lactic and showing smoke and oak cream while being full bodied and rich. Like previous years, this baby needs about 7 to 15 years to get it on....Not worth the cellar space. I wlll pass on her now and keep her on my radar. This is a true bordeaux from the old school. HOLD

Very primary after initial pop showing a tight bouquet of creme de cassis, blackberry compote, lavender, graphite, and oak. The tannins are quite gripping and the oak isn't integrated but after decanting for three hours the wine opens to show much more perfumed aromas and the acidity balances the tannins nicely. This should be great in five to ten years. 89 now but should improve to 92 during its prime drinking window. Decant for at least two hours at this point unless you want a mouth of wood.

Opened last night. Gorgeous ruby-purple with red legs. Really pretty feminine, floral aromas. Absolutely lovely. Excellent flavor profile, cocoa, fine chewy tannins. Already approachable with enough air, this should round out beautifully as the tannins melt away with a few years’ aging. Impressive, and not just because of its exceedingly reasonable price. 5-13-16-9: 93/100.
