Anniversary year wine opened on our 15th anniversary... fortuitous to have got married in a great Champagne vintage! The wine has also aged well - in fact it felt like it was just hitting its stride. Attractive combination of ripe fruit and no malo, creating a weighty wine that had ample green apple crispness. There was certainly some development, though, with a Chardonnay-led buttery undertone on the nose, the midpalate and through the finish. This was my only bottle, which was a shame.

Burgundy Tasting (Restaurant Schweizer's, Stuttgart): Glass: Spiegelau Burgundy Deep golden color. Yeasty nose, lots of autolysis notes. On the palate a bit sweet and sour, some lactic notes, Good length. Good, standard Champagne, but for me nothing really fancy or exciting. 90-91

(Blind tasting) Fullish nose with development. Ripe apple compote. Hints of bread and nuts. A toasty note. Good depth and complexity. Fullish palate. Very concentrated and intense. Very good grip. High acidity and richness. But also a bit austere. Toast beginning to emerge. Ripe apple, bread and nuttiness. This powerful Champagne is beginning to open up and will be delicious in 3-5 years.

Full-flavoured rich and very dry. Immensely powerful yet so fresh and balanced. Intense eventually developing notes of black chocolate. What can you say? A Champagne of prodigious quality and dimension. Perfection. CHP 97 pts

Very good - fresh and vibrant and so energetic. Apples and pears and barrels of orchard fruit. Fields of wheat in late summer. Long and bursting with life.

Onklers Champagne mai 21 (Anders): Upfront a bright smell of honey is "in your face". With added air, I smell sweet spices, apple core, and sweet yellow fruit. On the palate, the wine is experienced as wonderfully fresh and crisp. Green apples are prominent. High acid. A bit one-dimensional.

Still drinking young and initally a bit linear with high acidity and a chalky feel. With rising temperature more details. Apples, toast, hints of peach. Very good lenght.
Nevertheless does not quite open up and doesn’t quite live up to the promise from a couple of years ago. Feels like it needs more time.

2008 Champagne horizontal (Medlar (London)): One of the ringers in the flight and it showed well. An overachiever given the modest price tag this evening. Probably the most oaky that night other than Grande Annee and some vanilla notes.

Light straw colour with a fine mousse. Aromas of fresh apples and lemon with a hint of biscuit and shortbread. This is a fresh and zingy style, full of crisp green apples and citrus flavours mixed with baking spices, vanilla and a touch of pastry. This finish is long and the bubbles are fine. The acidity is fairly high which you would expect form a 2008 and as such I would say that this is better with food at the moment, but would be great to revisit in a few years. For drinking now, I personally prefer the 2009 blanc des blancs, which is fantastic, but this wine is better suited for laying down.

2018 K&L Annual Champagne Event (K&L San Francisco Store): K&L Champagne Event 2018, nose of brioche, red apple, green apple, and apple tart, same on the palate, big body, almost elegant, energetic, crisp, good acid, lovely, rich, should improve over time in the cellar, at $115-probably not but for the adventuresome-yes, long finish, distinctive, and atypical.

Yummy, massive acidity but still enough fruit to keep it balanced. Lots of lemon on the nose, cream just underneath. This is way too young and will improve for many years to come.

Another two bottles confirm my previous impressions. Really great stuff. Good upside with cellaring as well. I don't believe the dosage is as high as 13 grams. The figure I've seen is 8 grams.

Winewakers Blind BYO; 9/2/2017-9/3/2017 (Home): Bright nose with yeast and yellow apples. Very high on acidity with some yellow apple peel in the background. The acidity is more prominent than the fruit, thus making the wine a bit unbalanced. Will become better with som e years in the cellar.

Big and deep, bold fruit. Mostly ripe red apples, light citrus and faint wood too. Yeasty. Quite a lot of development for only a 2008. The first 10-15 minutes I was really excited of what it would show, but eventually it was a tad more dull than what I was hoping for. The fruit here, of course, could go on for ages but right now it overshadows the acidity so much that it is hard to clearly tell if it has the backbone to carry it all that way. 91-92p.

(Disgorged in January 2017) Light yellow colour with a very youthful nose showing hints of red apples, oak, minerals and cream. The palate shows lots of acidic youthfulness and filled with lovely raspberries and a smooth and creamy middle and a long distinct finish. This is very good already, but will evolve nicely over the coming decade. Best 2018-2033.

Very classic and correct. Still young and a bit closed. Lotes and lots of chalk and citrus. Lacking a little bit of detail. But very yum!

En viss mousse, tydlig gul färg
Mogna röda äpplen, citrus, småoxiderat, jäst
Fyllig och rund, hög syra, bra längd
En härlig champagne som har mycket av det jag söker.
