Deep ruby red color. Black raspberries, blackberries, licorice and hints of chocolate and earthiness in the nose. Black currants, blackberries, black cherries, plums, and blueberries in the flavor with a hint of minerality. A complex wine, full bodied, well balanced with nice acidity and a long lingering finish. This was served with the dessert course which worked but this may have scored even higher with the main course. beef or lamb.

Beautiful nose of fruit and earth - blueberry and truffle, but well integrated … reminiscent of a winery at harvest. After 2 hours of decanting, good firm tannins, but well integrated. The nearly 15% alcohol is very well integrated, but obvious. On the palate, great structure, well balanced, blackberry on palate. Good acitic, but not too much … great with steak. Long finish.

Pop n poured. Dark fruit plum cassis. Nose was almost overwhelming stewed fruit but over time calmed down. Full bodied behemoth. Didnt think alcohol was too noticeable as other notes mentioned. Probably a quick decant would help for next ones

A massive monolith of a wine at this point as others have pointed out. Plum, fig and black cherry fruit held together by a lot of unintegrated oak. Very high in detectable alcohol as well. It really represents the excesses of the era, and why wineries started pulling back from this style.
Critical scores were so far overblown for the 2007 vintage in Napa, and this is an example of those excesses.

Bought from the winery when I was on the list, thankfully I stopped buying.
Opened at noon and slow oxed till 5pm, decanted. Put back in the bottle at 6:30, decanted again at the restaurant. After another hour got to it. Well, it actually got to us.
So rude, a big punch in the face. Alcohol very pronounced.
Was smooth hence why 92/93, otherwise would give it 88. Complexity non existent. Some prune perhaps, wow, um boring. So one dimensional. This bottle/vintage absolutely sucked for the price quality ratio. I'd say it may be in a drinking window if you can call it that, will hold remaining bottles for a while to see if they settle down more or just sell em.
3 of us wine lovers could only get down half a bottle. It was that overpowering and undrinkable. That says something, pathetic effort by Bryant considering the pedigree.
Follow up: 2 days later, had saved a glass and put back in the bottle. More of the same, way over the top. So not my style. Borderline gross. I'd give it 82 points now.

The nose of this Cali Cab is the archetype of the best the region has to offer. It's exuberant but terribly elegant, on violets, black fruits and spices.
Mouth as silky as it is structured which delivers a juice of magnificent quality. There is of course concentration but also length and depth where black fruits, leather, tobacco and sweet spices intermingle harmoniously. It is a real explosion on a carpet of silk and wonderfully sapid thanks to a perfect balance. Superb kirsch finish which reminds us that the beast is going to its 14.9° but which remains integrated into the whole. Huge length.
A great Cali Cab.

Phenomenal bottle of mature Napa cabernet. PnP, might have benefitted from a decant. Cork came apart and there was significant sediment (no problem with strainer device) - the underlying juice was magnificent. We got jammy, profound red and black fruit with great structure. The wine was velvety on the palate, long and delightful finish. This was absolutely the right bucket-list wine for our occasion.

Decanted for 2 hours. Aromas of blackberry, plum, wild cherry, currant, hint of leather and earth. Nose is really expressive. Flavors of blackberry, currant, kirsch liquor, black cherry, earth and plum. Ends with a super long finish of 60 seconds with blackberry and black cherry notes. This tastes very young and still has some tannin to resolve but this is a huge wine and drinking phenomenal.

6 hour decant. Dark fruit, blueberries, plums with a hint of leather on the nose. Classic Pritchard Hill fruit and nose. Plush, velvety and lush mouthfeel with a cutting mineral, graphite, gravel mid palate that gives way to 90 to 120 second finish. Tannins are still present and wine could probably sit for easily another 3 to 5 years. Has to be one of the best expressions of Pritchard Hill fruit. Solid 98.

What a wine on a great night of celebration with the family. This is classic cult Cab in every way, and tasting it even for the wine noobies in our group helped them understand why some people spend a lot of money on wine. Blueberries, cedar, blackberry liqueur, sweet spices, some bramble and lovely minerality to balance things out. This was an absolute dream with A5 Wagyu, they should sell them together as a pair! So much harmony, this was a wine that is clearly at its apogee and a true crowd pleaser.

Black fruits with quite a bit of forest note coming through, but in a fruit driven kinda way. Also lots of oak on the nose too. Pan Grille indeed. Roasted peanuts. Super lush and expressive on the palate. The peanut thing continues, has to be the oak. Rounded, warm, big, with drive and energy still. Youthful. Needs more time. Interesting to see if the fruit will hold as long as it will take for the oak to integrate. Very warm .

D120; G10; 4.5+9*+5+9+9+4.9+4.9=96+; Lots of sediment; slightly lighter dark red than the '07 Chappellet (also reviewed); very complex aromatics with stewed plum, saline, oyster, cassis, green olive, cedar, herbs, smoke; silky mouthfeel, rich, delicious; complex dark fruit and complex palate that reflects the aromas; long, deep, elegant finish with great balance (really no flaws), resolved tannin, fully integrated, pure, structured, intense; will probably improve and require less decant/air over the next 5-10 years and hold well for another 10 beyond that.

This was served after a flight of aged 2nd growth Bordeaux and it showed so poorly. Too ripe, too much alcohol, little freshness or complexity. On it's own it certainly might've shown better but I have no idea why anyone would buy this instead of 2nd Growth Bordeaux which is cheaper even with age. With just a few exceptions, my opinion is Napa Cabs since 1994 have been a travesty. I enjoyed this on release for the shear exuberance of it but these wines don't age well.

Wine Dinner Extravaganza (David Burke's Primehouse - Chicago IL): From magnum. Massively ripe and concentrated, but with enough structure to retain balance (as opposed to the 2005 in next glass). Annual gathering with Chicago winos in Chicago - Burgs, SQNs and Cult cabs (David Burke's Primehouse): This is a monstrous scale wine that is excessive in all aspects from the fruit, ripeness, spices, structure and concentration. Expressive nose displaying black and blue fruits, crème de cassis, blackberry liqueur, liquid smoke. Ink, licorice, bitter chocolate, baking spices, lavender and mineral. Incredibly concentrated, almost syrupy, crème de cassis driven palate impression and very long finish with noticeable alcohol at the end. Very impressive wine. If you love cult cab, your score will be at least a couple points higher in RP scale.

Gorgeous deep deep ruby color pouring out of the bottle. Intensely aromatic nose of dark berries, light smoke and vanilla. This one is intense and pure in the mouth. The combination of sweetness, strong structure and hotness is overpowering. This is not quite balanced yet. Maybe a few more years in the bottle will help. Will open next one in two years.

A Casual Wednesday in Toronto with the Toronto Cru (FWR, Toronto, ON): This is a modern, typically fruit forward Cali cab, but certainly high quality and immaculately polished. The nose just blasts vanilla bean, violet, blueberry pie filling, coconut and blue Shush Puppie. The palate rich, round and immaculately polished. It is somewhat deficient in acid and has elevated alcohol showing. Not rated because I don't think I can do this style of wine justice, the quality is there but it's just not my usual style.

i over stayed my welcome, and somehow this got opened. geez, i rarely drink bryant family, and believe the last vintage tasted was an over achieving 2000. not decanted, and i managed to get about a 3 ounce taste. super ripe; and i mean really super ripe. truthfully, this is a style of wine i can't reasonably embrace anymore. it's too one dimensional. however, within the context of that profile, i suppose this is very well done. i can't predict where it will go should you own it, but if you are spending $300+ on napa cabernet, i presume you don't worry about that crap. i'm of the belief that you slug it down for the fruit forward, hedonistic (genuflection to the old parker prose) thrill of it all. good for you. go for it.

My first Bryant. Decanted 1 hour. Nice aromatics at times with a strong alcohol note. As the wine opened in the glass the alcohol dissipated. Moderate body and weight with very fine tannins. Ripe dark blackberry with extremely long 45 second finish. This is a very well made Cab with rich dark Curtis without being weighty.

From 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, this inky colored wine opens with blueberry, blackberry jam, coffee, earth and a myriad of spices. In the mouth, this powerful, full bodied, concentrated wine is lush and flamboyant. Based on how well the 2002 Bryant Family showed recently, I’d give it a few more years for all the components to come together.

Deep purply color. A classic, big-boned Bryant with outstanding boysenberry/rasberry fruit with hints of bitter chocolate and all-spice on the finish. The tannins are pronounced but quite smooth and while the fruit is big, it is well balanced by a good backbone of acidity. Everything a Napa cab should be and while it has the structure to age, will it ever really be better than right now?

Darkest purple; big Cabernet nose; hints of mint, oak, cocoa; big, round, ripe; great structure; fine tannin/acid balance; long rich finish.

Wonderful wine - focused, rich, lengthy, layer on layer- should be spectacular as it ages. Probably the best Napa wine we have had this year

ANV14. From Mag. Pure purple to the rim. This is pure sexy cab. Like a blueberry liqueur in the glass. Violets and other beautiful floral scents emerge from the glass with coaxing. Singular cab.

i over stayed my welcome, and somehow this got opened. geez, i rarely drink bryant family, and believe the last vintage tasted was an over achieving 2000. not decanted, and i managed to get about a 3 ounce taste. super ripe; and i mean really super ripe. truthfully, this is a style of wine i can't reasonably embrace anymore. it's too one dimensional. however, within the context of that profile, i suppose this is very well done. i can't predict where it will go should you own it, but if you are spending $300+ on napa cabernet, i presume you don't worry about that crap. i'm of the belief that you slug it down for the fruit forward, hedonistic (genuflection to the old parker prose) thrill of it all. good for you. go for it.

Had at the Grove, young and beautiful already, nice mix of blue and red fruits along with some acid and minerals, didn't disappoint... notably for a cali cab post 2000, no noticeable oak -- so appreciated... thanks Egon

Big Ass American Cabs blind with shocking results! (Montana's Rib and Chop House): Wine #15
Nose of orange rind and currants. The palate is bold with ripe raspberries, cherries and some vanilla. Good texture and balance. Good to great wine. Needs time, however.

PA Wine Talk Number 17 - Big Ass Napa Cabs/Blends (Montana's Rib & Chop House - Meadville, PA): Impressive but young. Tons of fruit - blackberries, blueberries, plums and cassis, with smoky meat tossed in just for fun. Smooth and long lasting. Should continue to evolve.

Wow an amazing wine, perhaps the best cab I have ever had. Popped and poured and open for drinking. Incredibly smooth mouthfeel, blueberries, smoke, and graphite.

This was a spectacular wine. Opened and poured right away. Although my notes are pretty vague, I can tell you that this wine was incredibly smooth and well balanced with a huge finish. I'm very excited about what the future holds for these bottles.

Deep ruby, amazingly viscous. Smoky nose with earth and a lot of fruit. Very fruit forward at this stage -- when it burns off its baby fat, could be stupendous.
