Just beautiful. Pretty, seductive perfume with red fruit, Rhone-ish aromatics and a touch of mint. Fruit sweet, smooth, powerful, seamless and long on the palate. Super fine tannins on the finish provide a touch of grip. Tastes like no other zinfandel due to the unique field blend. Reminds me of Thackery's Orion, and that's a very good thing. No need to hold off as it's at peak for my palate now. A short decant is all this needs.

Agree that this is drinking really well but has plenty of time left. Very distinct (and delicious) raspberry fruit with a bit of spice and slight savory note. Good stuff!

Consumed over 3 days, stored in Somm du Vin, note from day 3. Appearance: Medium ruby. Nose: Clean, medium intensity with developing aromas of overtones of ripe red fruit - strawberry, undertones of dark red fruit - pomegranate, black pepper, and floral notes - rose and violet. Palate: Dry, medium+ acid, medium tannin, medium+ body, medium intensity, 14.9% abv with flavors of ripe strawberry, pomegranate, and black pepper with a long finish.
My second of two bottles with similar experiences. It's a well made wine but it is dominated by typical Zinfandel characteristics of ripe strawberry and black pepper which do not align with my palate. As such, it's not fair for me to score this wine.

My second and last bottle. A year ago, it started out primary and disjointed, taking over an hour to open up and become more integrated. This bottle, however, was just fine right out of the gate. Red and blue fruits, with plenty of bramble. Fairly big and rich, without being overbearing. Well balanced and no raisins, excess sweetness, or other port-like characteristics. Although I drink a lot of high octane zins, the heat on this one was quite noticeable, bordering on obtrusive. Probably approaching its peak, but it should continue to evolve and improve over the next year or so. I must be a slow learner, because it's taken me until quite recently to realize that Bedrock zins (and Heritage wines) need a lot more time in the bottle to shine compared to zins from Carlisle, Once & Future, Seghesio and others.

Opened, poured and took a quick sip: Reddish-darkish fruit on the nose; a bit "hot" on the taste with reddish fruit and just a bit of that wild berry zin taste that I'm always looking for. Let this sit for about 1/2 hr. and the wild berry was gone. Still a little hotness and maybe some acidity, but nice reddish fruit, the right amount of spice, good mouthfeel, pretty good balance, tannin not an issue; decent finish. I would drink this sooner rather than later for the nice fruit, but that's a personal preference.

Initially after opening, it was primary, hot, and not at all integrated. About two hours later, everything had smoothed out a bit, and it was not noticeably hot and pretty well integrated. In other words, it began to smell and taste like a zinfandel from the Carlisle Vineyard. No detailed notes, but it was a pretty nice zinfandel, with the requisite berries and bramble and more elegance you you expect from the varietal. Right now, this needs a couple more years in the bottle and/or a two-hour decant.

Interesting variation among reviewers on this wine. Our bottle tonight was delightful: soft, viscous and round with a nice peppery kick on the backend.

Based on others' notes and scores, must be some bottle variation here. Opened, poured and let sit about 1/2 hr. Then: Not much nose; reddish fruit on taste to start, then kind of warm/alcohol? on the finish. Zin taste is minimal, if at all; just monotone reddish fruit. Stays pretty much the same over the hour after opening, with the warm sensation on the finish also persisting. Smooth; tannins not an issue. Drinkable in a generic sense, but not what I'm looking for in a zin or what I expect from Bedrock and the Carlisle vineyard. I have at least a few more of these left and may open another soon to see if this was just bottle variation and if this is the way they all are, I can't seem them improving over time. Maybe Day 2 will be better. Day 2 - and in a better place. Maybe a little more zin taste - though still fairly monotone. Even a bit smoother. The warmth on the finish pretty much gone. Probably an 89 on Day 2. Maybe its me, but many of these higher alcohol zins seem to have a monotone red fruited taste profile that is similar producer to producer. Maybe some a little more extracted, but still pretty much the same taste. Still disappointing, but better than yesterday. I'll wait on drinking my next one for another 6 months.

I tend to buy the Bedrock Heritage wines and Syrahs and eschew the Zinfandels. But wines like this show just how arbitrary of a decision that is. Can't help but love wines like this.
Sublte dark berries and plum on the tip of the tongue. Something of a cocoa sensation under the rear palate, Thick viscous mouthfeel. A slight citrus tang, but, otherwise, both acid and tannin are quite resolved.

Decanted for 90 minutes. Wow. Really nice structure and depth, while having some of the best fruit that I've tasted in a zinfandel (while not being too fruit forward and imbalanced). Great finish, too. With a short decant, this seems to be in its perfect drinking window now.

Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium intensity, ripe red fruit - cranberry and strawberry, black pepper, and fresh rhubarb. Palate: Medium-full bodied, mirrors the nose with cranberry and strawberry dominating the attack, good balance and lift, black pepper and earthy notes appear in the back-end. Finish: Medium length (30-45 seconds) dominated by earthy red fruit. There is a definite clean persistent flavor profile from front to back that is usually an earmark for wines I find outstanding. Unfortunately, I'm just not a fan of the zinfandel grape but I recognize this as a well made wine.

When you combine the wine making talents of Bedrock with the powerhouse vineyard of Carlisle, you better buckle up, because you’re in for the zin ride of your life. This blockbuster wine has cedar and dark brambly fruit on the nose, followed by a silky palate of deep red cherry. Long finish and balanced all the way through. This just made my top 10 all-time zin list. You can enjoy this gem now or wait - it’s got a lot of life left.

Pleasant aromas of boysenberry, soy sauce and raw meat. Flavors reflect the nose, with great balance and focus, elegance even. Very winey (as opposed to Welch's-y - OK, so zinfandel isn't my favorite varietal...). Young yet, so no hurry, but very fine now. One of my favorite Carlisle's and now, I'd have to say, of Bedrock's as well. Outstanding.

Pop and pour with some grilled NY Strips. This was a lovely Zin with notes of spice, bramble and dark fruits. I will hold my remaining bottle for two to three years, but in a good place right now if you have multiples. 92+

decanted 45 minutes. Dark ruby color. Nose dark fruits, intense perfume -- violets and a faint hint of forest floor, outstanding. Palate juicy and jammy but in a pleasing and balanced way, hint of mint and herbs, great concentration of flavor with a refreshing red-fruit acidity on the finish. One of my favorites of the Bedrock zins that I've tried, very pleasurable now with its exuberant fruit. 92 pts

Russian River richness. Loads of spicy fruit. Very satisfying. A more jammy zin which is a bit of a departure for a Bedrock wine, but Morgan keeps it all in balance. Drink or hold. Short decant suggested.

14.9% abv. Dark ruby, very expressive aromas. A raspberry entry opens to blackberry with sage and a floral hint. High toned. Excellent balance, depth and length. Excellent now and will almost certainly improve over the next several years.
