Moderately developed pomegranate color with a pale, brick-orange rim. Somewhat restrained, subtly sweet-toned and pretty attractive nose with layered aromas of wizened red cherries, some sweet raisiny tones, a little bit of mocha and smoky nuances of oak, light vanilla tones, a hint of developed leathery character and a lifted touch of balsamic VA. The wine is lively, medium-bodied and bright on the palate with intense, dry flavors of sour cherries, tart cranberries, some developed tobaco and beef jerky tones, a little bit of crunchy dark fruit, a hint of dusty earth and a touch of savory oak spice. Overall the wine feels quite lean, but not too much. The high acidity and somewhat grippy medium tannins are perfectly balanced with the body and the flavors, lending good sense of structure to the wine. The finish is moderately grippy, nuanced and savory with lengthy flavors of earthy spices, sour cherry bitterness, some crunchy cranberry tones, a little bit of leather, light raisiny tones and a hint of savory and slightly peppery oak spice.
A beautiful, classic and wonderfully structured Sangiovese at its plateau of maturity. The nose promised a wine with more sweetness and quite modern character, whereas the wine was beautifully old-school with great structure and nicely crunchy, dry and subtly bitter character. Most likely the wine will keep for many years more, but I doubt there is much room for further development. Drink or keep for a handful of years. A thoroughly impressive and delicious vintage of Tignanello. Highly recommended.

Medium reddish garnet in color with slight amber at the edges. Forward, attractive & fragrant nose of mature & developed ripe fruit aromas of cherries & strawberries with overtones of floral notes of roses & earthy/dust, truffles, cocoa/coffee, spices, leather, tar, anise, dried herbs, minerals & some cedar in the background. Medium bodied with a good concentration of balanced, smooth textured, matured & developed, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, berries & plums with earthy, mushrooms, chocolate, coffee, spices & minerals. Lingering dry finish. Drinks quite well at present but doubt any further development would occur from additional aging. More developed than a comparable Bordeaux from the same vintage.

World Wine Symposium 2013 - Kevin and Kelly's excellent adventure; 11/6/2013-11/14/2013 (Villa D’este, Lake Como): Came directly from the winery. Fully matured, dry dark fruits, strong tobacco note, licorice and earth. Warm and round palate impression, very ripe fruit expression and fully integrated tannins. A bit more advanced than the 82 Bordeaux counterparts, perhaps the similar stage as the 82 La lagune in development. A very food friendly at this stage.

Oh this is very good indeed. I bought this magnum from Farr recently, and brought this to dinner with some friends at the China Club. Popped and poured. Terrific floral and currant bouquet, deliciously fruity on the palate, the wine put on weight and gained layers of earthy mineral complexity during the course of the evening. The vibrancy of the fruit helps this wine come across as younger than expected, but actually I think it is squarely in its drinking window, and the tannins are certainly soft and well rounded. Having said that, there's quite a few more years left in this -- I didn't pay a ridiculous price for this, and will certainly buy any further bottles I come across in the market, as should you!

Ripe cherry nose with violets, liquorice, meat, dried herbs, iron and chocolaty wood. Medium bodied, intense and refreshingly structured - cooling but meaty - palate with slight tannic grip. Blue flowers, dark tobacco, tar and liquorice. Warmer towards the long finish. Good stuff. Pretty ripe style but giving some beautiful cooling and slightly brooding nuances.

This wine was all about the pureness and soft fruit juice! The smooth factor was from another level than ever tasted before! The nose had a deep bouquet of leather and cigar box mixed with some real dark and sweet black fruit-tones that came through more and more along the way! that Palet was ultra smooth and the midpalet was really nice with a lot of sweet fruit almost port-ish without the sugerfeel! the finish was really persistent considering the 30 years of live and I my opinion this wine was drinking perfectly know but it is a wine that is not able to deal with food so drink up and enjoy this brilliant wine on its own! Rose and dried tea leaves but sweet rose petals and lovely sexy muscular sweet leathery body of sweet Ambroise strawberry tea. Delicious and younger tasting than it should be.

in mid-neck position; cork is quite flimsy and disintegrated; slight fruit and in fact quite muted in nose initially; much more opened after almost 4 hours in bottle; soft, complex and layered bouquet; wet leave, restrained fruit, high in savory and minerality; 30s+ finish; lovely

28 year wine. Drank with lamb. The wine was still very fresh with some complexity remaining. The nose was blackberry and leather. The finish was still long. I was worried the wine was long past due but we were all pleasantly surprised.

Vintage Tignanello Tasting (Louise's House): Clear rustic plum coloured core with a small copper rim. This is much more concentrated than the Tig 80 or 81. Delicate nose that gives off a nice mix of floral notes mixed with roofing tar, Cuban tobacco, licorice and worn woods. There is not as much fruit as I was expecting. The palate shows a very silky wine that is dry and well balanced. Bright acidity and shockingly large tannins give this wine the feel of a teenager. This has a very similar flavor profile to the nose. The fruit intensity is fairly reserved at this stage though, especially compared to the large structure that this wine still showcases. I feel comfortable saying that the wine is in a bit of a funk at the moment, but the fruit is still packed in there tightly. Give this wine another few years and your patience will be rewarded. Drink now - 2020. Outstanding Quality. 95 pts.
*This came alive the next day and stewed fruits were beautifully mixed in with tea and earth notes.

high fill, cork in absolute top condition, purchased this case about 25 years ago and left it untouched in the cellar. we consumed most bottles in the early 90-ties and forgot the 3 remaining bottles. It must have been about 12 years ago since our last tasting of this wine.
medium red in color, fairly dark brick red along the rim, at first the nose remains a bit closed but after 90 minutes or so the sangiovese-grape really comes alive, full nose of rose petal, leather, red fruit, stylish and very attractive nose (after some time, that is), medium bodied on the palate, hardly any tannin left, nice acidity keeps this one alive and there seems to be some aging potential in reserve still. outstanding, really very good.

Woody. Iron. Slight strawberry on the palate, and has acid to support the wines. The tannins are silky, but ight. Reasonable finish. Almost burg-like after 30 mins in the glass.

Fabulous nose, beautiful symphony of Sangiovese and Cabernet, beautifully integrated new oak, spicy, slightly peppery even, fleshy red fruit, calm and deep; mouthfilling and full yet elegant and harmonious, robust and concentrated, ripe tannin, rich and fleshy yet aristocratic; excellent length, smooth and seductive. Great wine, drinking well but will age beautifully.
