The nose is intensely fruity but in the best Tuscan fashion bright, red-toned and a bit tart. There is definitely a saline quality to it and I think there is also some VA here. On the palate it is medium-bodied, fleshy and lifted. It is easy to believe that it comes from Montalcino but for the area it is markedly fresh and light on its feet. There is un atypical tangy streak here that could be easily attributed to the share of Pinot. The acidity is absolutely terrific, rendering the finish rather lip-smacking even if there is also some tannic grip. It is altogether youthful but not really primary. There is no great depth to the fruit but for the tariff this wine delivers and then some. It is a wine for the table where it performs superbly. Cerbaiona is a dead serious address and they have not put out a middling product or a money grab here. I could easily go through a case or two of this as a midweek drinker.

A better showing this time, if still not great. Reading the reviews below which noted the inclusion of some pinot in this wine, I did notice some pinot character. Whether that is the power of suggestion or not I don't know. In any case, I still don't love it but I enjoyed it more. I'll give the remaining bottles some more time and see if they improve.

Wow! What an incredibly delicious and satisfying wine. 90% Sangiovese and 10% Pinot Noir (multi-vintage). I feel like this would be the perfect house red. It is approachable, fairly silky, a hint of fruit sweetness (PN) and is that a trace of oak, too? Absolutely superb for the money (just under $25) from this venerable producer.

L 8/19 which I think must be a bottling date, as this is purportedly a blend of 2017 and 2018. It's also got 10% Pinot Noir alongside the 90% majority of Sangiovese, which is definitely throwing me off because I keep thinking "what's wrong here?" even though it's tasty stuff.
Aromas of yeast, vague herbs, blue and black fruits, a little violets. Fresh, juicy, tangy dark fruits. Nice stuff, easygoing and well suited to the table. Probably more interesting in 6 to 12 months, as it has enough balance and intensity to keep well and seems to be in an awkward stage.

NV stills should never be underestimated. This was a juice fest, fresh, and flavorful. Aromas of red cherry, red plum, blackberry and flint. Medium- acidity, medium alcohol, medium body, and medium tannin. Great value as well.

Excellent bargain at $20 per bottle, I noticed that there is a wide spread in the price of this wine to over $30 per bottle in the Chicago marketplace. Regardless of the price, the wine is a great everyday wine. The wine has a floral nose with a hint of earth. The palate is silky and reminiscent of cherry cough drops in a good way. The wine is on the lighter side and does not have the heft of a Brunello. Of course, it is not a Brunello, so enjoy it for what it is, an opportunity to drink a wine from a top producer at a reasonable price.
Plum, raspberry, and a little earth on the nose. On the palate, dark cherry and plum with notes of savory herbs and earth, with moderate tannins and good acidity on the medium to long finish. Although this doesn't reach the level of a Brunello, in comparison with other Sangiovese-based wines it's a bargain at about $25. The Cellartracker drinking window looks at least a few years too short.

So, purchased this from an ad saying it was the much vaunted 13/15. I suspect otherwise. First, this says L8/19, which strikes me as wrong. Second, this feels too thin to me to be the 13/15, which is supposed to contain a great deal of declassified Brunello. I opened a bottle of this wine about a year ago and felt that it was either too young or maybe just a wine I did not care for. It was dry with little fruit evident and a dusty tannic finish. I dumped it into the braising liquor and had a delicious Coq au Vin.
Still have 11 bottles left so I popped one open tonight. What a difference a year made!!
Nice fruit aroma along with an interesting earthy herbal note. Classic Sangiovese cherry flavor followed by leather and an earthy dusty length. After 2 hours the wine has continued to open up with more dark cherry fruit on the palate. Paired well with rosemary grilled chicken.
Very enjoyable wine for a great price.

On the first day the alcohol showed too much, delivering heat and a sweet touch, but it was clearly recognizable as a Sangiovese wine. On the second it showed more balance and the red fruits were better integrated. Still it remained rather low on the acidity part, so I guess that this wine is best consumed in the near future.

Not sure if this bottle was flawed - the cork came out cleanly with no signs of leakage, but the color already showed some bricking/brown notes that I would otherwise associate with a much older bottle or some type of oxidation. The nose was as one would expect for a Sangiovese/Brunello-style wine, but the palate was so dominated by a roasted, stewed, overripe fruit character that I did not even make it through a single glass. Sadly, this ultimately ended up going down the drain.

Just drank the 4th and final bottle purchased in May 2017. People worrying about how it will age can relax, this improved with each bottle over the past 3 years and I think this would be good for a good long while. It is true that it is approachable young, but this was a well balanced silky rich beauty with lot of fruit, savory notes of olive and herbs, thick but not heavy. Really liked it

super light, almost tastes watered down. Very nice nose of raspberry and other red fruits, but other than that not a lot else there. From the palate I would have guessed a grenache over sangiovese in a blind tasting. Good summer wine for light pairing, not one for aging or meals. Drink now.

a damn good wine. this was last years (2018) release, which was a blend of a couple of years wine that typically would continue aging to become Cerbaiona Brunellos. In order to make some space, this wine happened. What a steal. possibly deal of the year. Traditional leather, earth, and sour cherry fruits everywhere. Some air time definitely helped this wine, so I'm not gonna rush to open my last one.

L. 1/18. This stuff is absolutely brilliant -- it drinks at a level that far surpasses the appellation and price point. The nose shows a delicious fruit-forward juiciness, as well as a moderate whiff of dried herbs. There's something akin to dustiness as well. The palate's fruit is generous and sweet, and there's far more complexity and depth here than you'd expect for the level. The tannins aren't particularly powerful though they do have a presence; this is certainly a wine accessible for earlier drinking but also an ageable one as well.

This is high end juice hiding in a mundane package. Refined nose of black cherry, herbs, and asian spice--just a deep bouquet, perhaps with just enough volatility to be intriguing. Layered palate with beginning, middle and end. Black cherry and dark chocolate. Note to self: buy.
The backstory is that there's been a change of ownership and blending vintages of upper tier (e.g Brunello) lots took care of some orphaned wine in the transition.

L. 1/18. I wonder if the story behind this is actually true. It's brilliant wine in any case. The nose is complex, with a bit of dried herbs, juicy red fruit, and a lovely dose of earth. The palate is generous and enjoyable, but also fairly complex, especially at the price. Very ripe and giving, but the earth notes are certainly reminiscent of the real deal. Plenty of tannin too, this will benefit from time. And if I'm correct, this is probably the last of an era.
Really enjoyed this. Was good from bottle but last bit about 3 hours after open was better. Olive, strawberry, medium acidity, lovely silky texture and finish.

Very nice wine. Typical Sangiovese profile. Needs a little time in the bottle or a good decant. I did a pop and pour saving enough for the third night (skipped second night). Nose is phenomenal with casis, olives, earthiness, dark fruit.

Terrific juice. A "baby Brunello" apparently a blend of rejected fruit from unnamed vintages. Blind I would have called Brunello from a good year or a Fine Chianti Classico. Nose shows sweet plum and prune, tar, earth and smoke. The palate affords good acidity, black cherry fruit with the plum/prune on the nose, and moderately grippy tannins. Excellent food wine, a strong match with simple roast chicken and roasted potatoes, but would do great with any red sauce or meat. Not too shabby on its own either. Drinking very well now. Probably has another few years but no need to wait. Terrific qpr.

Very nice wine. Pop and pour. Aromas of burnt cherry; dark chocolate; cloves and asphalt. Light body but very complex. Nice long finish. This was a very pleasant surprise; was not sure what to expect. The tastes and quality are comparable with some of the Brunellos we have. Great value wine.
Added bonus: good on day 2 also. Maybe just as good.

Lot 1/18. Decanted 1 hour and drank over 2 days. Really excellent wine for the money- tastes like a good Brunello. Tasty today, but has the tannins to last. Reloaded.

Classic Sangiovese but could perhaps need 1-2 years more before it opens up a bit more.
It was nice but I had actually expected more. It does however have a great balance!

Very nice wine. Typical Sangiovese profile. Needs a little time in the bottle or a good decant. I did a pop and pour saving enough for the third night (skipped second night). Nose is phenomenal with casis, olives, earthiness, dark fruit.

Aroma: Nice beautiful berry aromatics with some cedar box.
Palate: All of the berries imaginable followed by earth, sticks, dried herbs (Sage and thyme) and plenty of acid and tannin. Very approachable now. Lifted. Gorgeous.

Delicious right out of the bottle (and into the glass.). Smooth and well balanced, nice structure, a great value. Wish I’d bought more.

Purchased from Garagiste......ehhhh....slightly sour taste. Not much of a nose. I have three more bottles. I'm hoping they are better...
