You get a lot of fruits - its red cherries also hint of strawberries and raspberries - we also get - we are also getting forrest floor, wood and some menthol - a nice balance - tannins are medium - acidity is a bit higher - but not affecting the balance - for me the wine is at the moment a bit closed - not giving so much - it is a well made wine - and I will start with 92.

Great battle between 2015 and 2016 vintages (RP: 2015:94, 2016:94; WS 2015:92, 2016:95). Those are two extremely different wines. The 2015 is dominated by dry wood at this stage. There is a lot of fruits underneath but the overall balance is not there right now, even after more than 3 hours of carafe. I will give it a rating of 92 now with a probable rating of 94+ in a few years. Not close to be ready to drink. The 2016 is a wonderful wine right now. Very rich but with smooth tannins and lovely fruits. Great balance already, it has a little more acidity and much less dry wood tannins. It is still a young wine but I like it very much right now. I rate it 94 now with a potential of 95 in a few years. The overall experience was great as I thought those two vintages would be very similar but boy I was wrong.

Muted aroma, medium body, fruit overwhelmed by acidity. Maybe this will get better in 5 years, and then maybe not. Inferior to other vintages that I have enjoyed of this wine.

An absolutely consistent wine this again opened with plenty of zest and freshness. The colour remains a deep cherry red with a nose of Morello cherries, raspberry conserve, autumn herbs and balsamic touches. The palate is of medium density with an emerging sense of weightless intensity. There is a lovely sphere of red fruits balanced by the savoury autumn herbs with touches of cinnamon and balsamic and a fine tannin backbone. This a simply delicious Brunello.

Wonderfully modern Brunello, classic dark cherry, plum, krisch, bay leaf, Christmas cake spices, liquorice and saffron. The palate was full bodied with wonderful richness, elegance and a layered texture, the dark spicy fruit flooded the palate along with those Christmas spices, the mid-palate was elegant, with polished tannins, long focused silky finish.

First of all let it breathe for at least 4 hours. Red fruits and spices spices out of a medium ruby color. Elegant, medium-bodied wine. There are firm and nicely integreated tannins. Really fresh with vibrant acidity. Intense, medium to long finish. It is approachable now but I would suggest to keep it for 2 more years. Then it will be also perfectly balanced. 92+

Suprisingly heavy oak but not disturbing anyway. Matching fruitiness, floral perfume, leather and heat. Dark cherries, sweet fruit, nice structure and mouthdrying tannins. Medium body and distinct acidity. Some ageing stsrting to appear and will probably accellerate from here. Very accessible. Will settle with a strong 92 point.

Dégusté voilà 2 année, il m'avait laissé une meilleur impression avec un gout de chocolat en finale. Celui-ci était très ordinaire et aucun chocolat ! ... bizarre.
This wine needs at least an hour in the decanter to open up. There are aroma of ripe red cherries and plums, overtones of barnyard, toasted oak, spices and river stones. Very profound and intense once opened. The palate is very balanced, rich, evolving with a good core of fresh acidity in the structure. Finish has a good depth and velvety tannins. Still young and will continue to develop into a great Brunello. 93-94 pts.
Retasted in Apr 2024. This still needs sometime in the glass to slowly open up its aromatic layers. Very classic Brunello nose and palate. Rounded texture with fresh acidity running through its core, creating layers of flavours from entry to a long and deep finish. Good for another 8-10 years. To increase the score by 1 pt to 94.

Again this wine opened with a tightly reserved nose and closed palate. It displays a deep cherry and red cedar colour with plenty of dark cherry, raspberry, autumn herbs and floral touches on the nose. The palate opens with considerable time to reveal plenty of weight and fruit density balanced with that lovely Brunello savoury edge of herbs and fruitwoods. The structure sits behind the rich fruit and savoury characters and suggests plenty of future development ahead.

Shout out to Alexander Smith for some dynamite descriptors for this beauty! Me: red berries, crushed stone, dried leather and cedar on the nose. Blast of acidity on the attack, followed by more red fruits and Alex's grippy tannins into the finish. Young, tart and a bit harsh as an aperitif, but perfect with a pasta bolognese tonight. Yum!
Day 2: Bumped the rating for an overnight on the counter that rounded out some of the tannic edges. A bit sweeter on the second day, but overall a more enjoyable quaff. Good juice.
Exploding aromas of dark concentrated fruit, plum, prune, balsamic, sage, Christmas cake spices and slight cedar. The palate is round, rich and fills the mouth with dark and slightly bruised fruit, figs, all-spice and fresh earth, slightly ripe yet structured tannins, smooth mid-palate concentration, and a long grippy finish. A modern day Brunello and for me a wine that never disappoints.

Top quality and classic BdM in my book. Cherry, red and black berries, black currant, tobacco and leather. Suede like in structure with enough tannic grip though without being overpowering. Good balance on the palate and a lingering finish.
This was a 37,5cl bottle so the bottle evolution was further than I imagine a regular bottle would be atm. Don't hesitate to let it sit in the cellar.

Excellent textbook modern BDM. Flowers and red berries on the nose. Silky, medium to full body, right tanin, and great acidity in the mouth. Could taste better if aged for severl more years. Try Tenuta Nuova next time.

Buona espressione del Brunello di Montalcino, con 100% uve sangiovese. La dominante olfattiva è dettata da spezie, cuoio e tostato. Al palato è ben equilibrato, risultando al contempo secco, tannico, intenso e acido.

3.9 stars deserves a bump up to 4 stars (Vivino rating) I reckon, this white label Casanova di Neri BdM is one of my favourite USD 50 something bottles.
Complex red fruits and cherry with a beautiful nose, and nice long finish. Why is the 2016 better? It's surprisingly more ready to drink with even smoother tannins.
Thanks to E for bringing this along, on our afternoon vertical CdN BdM 2015 X 2016, where my 2016 bested this by some margin. Well 5 of us agreed anyway!

Cherry and red fruits in abundance, and a beautiful floral aromatic nose which keeps lingering.
Both the finish as well as the balanced smooth tannins start to come through as it develops in the glass after half hour, but alas by 1 hour at Gooddam today, there was none left in the bottle.
Perhaps even better and at least 4.5 stars with some decanting, or more years. Thanks E & Z for the treat, I am keeping my 2015s for another 2+ years to properly appreciate! A wonderful bottle, love this white label CdN!

Nose of pure red cherries, blackberries and so much more; palate shows intensity of black and red fruits made in a classical style: more old world but with bold showy fruit. Amazing deftness in approach and made for a journey, one the wine maker certainly wants to send it on for they have coaxed everything out of this a created a cohesive, youthful and very promising young Brunello. Amazing tannic backbone which just seems to surround themselves with a the abundance of black & red cherry and blackberry with an interesting note of cardamom. Swirl and you find some soft creme de cassis, spring flowers, worn leather, exotic spice-box and rose petals. Mouthfeel is round and focused and pillowy. Finish holds true and long and never gives in. Such a complete young wine with so much promise, one I would certainly make my house wine if my house was in Tuscany.

I’m not really impressed by this wine. It’s nice but not something I would pay more than $25-30 in all. After reading several reviews, I purchased this at the local Costco store. It was opened for approximately six hours before tasting. One of our tasters at dinner nailed the initial nose. Hawaiian Punch. Damn if she wasn’t spot on. Following that, I notice some licorice and orange notes. The taste is underwhelming. Very thin throughout initial tasting which continues into the mid-palate. Fairly smooth tannins on the backend. For me, it’s not something I would buy again.
Drinking this after a thick 09 cantenac brown last night, it was like getting knocked out by female boxer! Wow this is so damn powerful and sexy. Love the serious demeanor, and snobbish demand for your attention during the exit. This makes many expensive Barolo (yes Barolo) look bad, while making many brunellos look clumsy. Drink now with a long decant and over the next 10 years.
*PS_I had posted this by mistake on the Tenuta Nuova, so I deleted and posted here. Sorry to disappoint...But actually, a great mistake! This bottling is just perfect for me...

Beautiful tannins and nice acidity lends itself to make this Brunello more complex when we had this at Sage back to back with the Il Poggione from the same 2015 vintage. Both good but on this day, this Casa shone!

This producer is right in the top of my favorite 5 Brunello makers. Always making wines that are solid and affordable, year after year, and sometimes wowing. This time, I decanted the wine for several hours without intention, and the wine has definitely grown and filled out in all the right places. This time, the nose has a slight whiff of barnyard developing and palate is full of earthy grip, punctuating the balsamic notes with class and elegance. I really think that in 2015, I may like this better than the Nuova bottling because of the perceived maturity and upfront earthiness and class at this price. I wish I had room for a case or two...Drink with lots of air or Hold and drink over the next 10 years.

Popped and studied over a couple of days. An earthier, yet similar version of the Tenuta Nuova, however, this is more approachable. Beyond the earth, there’s plum, black cherry, cedar and Indian spice. Medium to full in body, with a long finish that echoes the silky tannins. Drink now - 2036.

Dense muted red. Lots of glycerin Subtle dusty cherry aromas. Deep, satisfying flavors in the mouth, cherries, strawberry, with perfect balance of fruit and acid. Feminine. As one reviewer put it, a nice balancing act. Pretty fine stuff, this. Has that extra dimension in both nose and mouth all great wines exhibit. Should age beautifully. 5-13-17-9: 94/100.

A classic producer in Brunello and this 2015 is just as good as I remember. Aromas of dark cherries, plums, figs, fresh earth and tobacco leaf. The palate was full-bodied with beautifully structured tannins, dark tree fruit, baked figs, crushed stones, spice, fresh earth and notes of licorice. This is round and rich yet not heavy with nimble feet. This leads to a lingering finish. A wine that has you going back for more and which in my eyes showcases what Brunello can do. I was worried this would have shut down but no this is already a superstar, drink this over the next 10-15 years. If you don't like this wine then you don't like Brunello. 95+

This is one of my favourite wines of 2020 because of its sheer joyousness balanced by some great fruit and well defined structure. It shows an initially reserved palate and nose but on decanting has a deep cherry and red cedar colour with plenty of dark cherry, raspberry and autumn herbs on the nose. The palate opens with time to reveal plenty of weight and fruit density balanced with that Brunello savoury edge of herbs, balsamic and fruitwood. Just delicious.

Know it is young, but had to try it! First out of a case of 6. And it’s lovely! Deep dark berries snd oak/vanilla on the nose. The wine is darker in colour than most brunellos, almost black/ruby red edges, while I find most other brunellos to have a brownish hue. Tannic and dry, this is very early to drink. But I dont mind tannic and dry wines, as long as they are balanced with fruit! It’s a winner 👍🏻

Loved it! Always a fan favorite when we serve it. Still young but this is an excellent wine. Cherries, forest floor. Decanted 5+ hours. Should age well. Glad I have 2 more bottles but wish I had more than that. Decent QPR as brunellos go. I prefer this brunello to much more expensive ones

I drank this alongside the 2016 San Felice Chianti Classico Grigio ll and I gotta say, either this is way too hot and woody right now, or that Chianti is a steal!
There is no mistaking the power of this wine. It has a balsamic character in a medium body and enters as a mouth coating, suave wine that grows and grows and grows in the mouth. The finish is awesomely long and clensing, with some asian spice and flowers. However, the wine is not ready and too coiled. If this was the only bottle in my cellar, I would open this today, and drink it tomorrow.
I will try another one soon..This seems awfully good, but it just overshot the runway for me last night.

Quel bon vin ! Je regrette presque de ne pas en avoir pris plus! Le vin est puissant, musclé, beaucoup de tanins fins, sans être trop asséchant. Beaucoup de matière et d'aromes qui se développent en milieux de bouche et laisse une belle finale. Vraiment top ! Les prochaines, pour la garde.

Very pretty nose, with a good sense of place and grape. The palate is slightly more traditional than modern, with a good well of fresh acids, avg+ balance, and a full, rewarding mid-palate and finish. Good+. Drink 2023-2035.recommended
An early preview of the Casanova di Neri BdM 2015 shows how strong the 205 vintage will be! Slightly darker red in the glass compared to the 2014, aromas of dark red and black tree fruits filled the nose along with, violets and a little tobacco. The palate felt rich and enticing, with dusty black cherries, currants, strawberries and a touch of fig and spice, the tannins were beautifully pure and structured, the finish clean, elegant and long. I feel this will become one of the top BdM of 2015, along with the selection process which has been going on here since 2014, the wines tend to be more and more pure, clean. Impressed. 96-97

If one likes Barolo, this might not be your cup of tea. 🍵
Med garnet to the eyes with wide rim.
Med+ intensity on the nose with red fruit cherry strawberry follows by oaky tobacco chocolate.
Dry, med acidity, high tannin and med+ bitterness.
Med+ intensity on the palates, med+ alcohol, med body, med+ aftertaste.
It is fairly light however I enjoy it. Although, I wouldn't let it sits too long as acidity would be too much...🤨

Impressed. 96-97
