Color showing a little bit of age but with air this is all salinity and meyer lemon oil and zest. Some white flower coming through as well. Zippy acid with intense and deep flavor in the mouth. Super long finish +++

Robert's Holiday Dinner at Margaux's Table (Margaux's Table, White Bear Lake, MN): Pale gold color. Drank a glass over an hour. I like the profile here, showing tangerine and Meyer lemon across the nose and palate, vibrant, tangy, salte and citrus peel, actually a bit more trim than the '15 Leeuwin, though the oak seem similar to me but buoyed better by the youthful, more vivid fruit.

Robert's Holiday Party (Margaux's): My favorite Chardonnay of the night! This was singing even better than the 2015 Leeuwin, and surprisingly, was more integrated. Lots of pear, apple and melon with some hints of spice and citrus, and nicely integrated sweet toasty oak! Absolutely delicious now, but will be even better with a little more bottle age. Easy 94 to 94+ now! Drink or hold.
Note: I don't know why I don't buy this....such a good value and squarely in my wheelhouse!

2 years since last bottle and this is starting to kick into gear - no decant and straight it glass, it’s giving similar vibes to earlier bottles. Soft, creamy but with some nice bite and development on finish loop. Touch of smoke, plenty of fresh juice. Really good.

More of a Chablis fan lately so this was a pleasant surprise. Even Mrs Ozziewine ("grassy") who has been anti-California Chard for a long time loved this. So elegant with just a touch of oak and a hint of sweet. The acidity keeps it lively and not cloying. An earlier note referenced apple pie and I definitely get that. Creamy tropical fruit flavors, plush. Qualifies for the technical term, dee-lish! How does Thomas Rivers Brown consult for tens (hundreds? thousands?) of clients and never make a bad wine? Must be a wine God. Recommend drinking now or within the next 1-2 years.

Perfect color and nose, very typical and what I would expect for a high end Cali Chardonnay. Good lemon on the nose. Drinking after a 2019 Aubert Russian River. So same price point, but appelation vs single vineyard. I like this one better. My wife likes the Aubert better. This one has a little more oxidation, even though oxidation is too strong of a descriptor. This wine is very fresh, but tastes more balanced to me. Really good.

PnP. Starts with apples, baker's yeast, pear, minerals, citrus with a hint of toast on teh nose.. Medium-bodied with similar flavors leading to a long smooth finish. the oak is not intrusive. Good balance.

Drinking well as a PnP, however it did benefit with 3-4 hours in bottle. Lemon, tangerine, quince, jasmine, honeysuckle, vanilla, clove, all-spice, great length and texture. With the complexity of this wine I would normally rate higher but for some reason this didn’t come together for me, at least for my palate. It was still very good, just not great.

Medium golden yellow. Starts with aromas of apples, baker's yeast, pear, minerals, citrus with a hint of toast. Medium-bodied with similar flavors leading to a long smooth finish. Improved as it warmed slightly from cellar temperature.

Medium gold in color. Nose is full of apple and vanilla. Creamy texture and the finish brings out some lemon and lime and acidity. Really good drinking right now.

Pop and pour; consumed over approx. 3 hours; golden straw in color; pretty nose of lemon, citrus, some pear and maybe mint; layered palate of fresh lemon and green apple up front, then lemon cream and almonds; as the wine warms, the almonds intensify almost to a marzipan essence and the creaminess becomes more prevalent (I love it); a light vanilla note shows as well but I don't get any vanilla until the wine begins to warm; this is fresh and juicy throughout with a zest of lime on the back-end acid kick; well-balanced.
I've been fortunate to have this over several vintages and while the 2013 is still my favorite, this vintage is probably my next in line. It has a "sophistication" to it in that it is nicely balanced without one attribute/characteristic trying to be louder than the other. The layered palate and additional energy and intensity of the flavors takes this above the 2018 SC bottling, which I also love. I liked this best around the low-60 degree mark (a bit warmer than cellar temp).

Second bottle already from this case and I must admit at first I’m not sure where I got my original note from as this seemed a very different wine. First note was a soft wine which tightened up later. This initially had a short and sharp citric (lemon/lime) pull on the end and tighter mid but over time some creamy and softer elements did emerge. I do also remember that I decanted my first bottle so that clearly had an effect. Touch of creme brûlée but there is enough in this to give a touch of structure and sharpness. A year or two in bottle will be good to see but easy to drink now. I may well decant the next one though. Very good.

Apple, tropical fruit, lemon peel and vanilla bean. Ripe and juicy mid-palate that leads to a very long finish. Well balanced. Served with a baked broccoli, pasta and cheese casserole.

Been drinking this bottling for nearly a decade. It’s always good but hits new heights in this vintage. I always find the fruit profile of the sire compelling, but there’s a layered deel to this vintage that just keeps coming at you in waves. And a completeness. Not that this wouldn’t age a decade but nothing currently is out of place or needs more time to come into focus. The best wine I’ve tasted in this young year and perhaps the last one, too. Stunning effort.

What a surprise this was and the score may underestimate the feeling it gave. Very open and soft considering it’s recent bottling with inviting pear elements in a mid weight medium coloured chard. Has citrus and acid on the palate but is certainly a softer profile than you would expect. 13.9 % As it opens there is also some sneaky spice and power / energy on the finish that comes in. It tends to tighten up after time which is unusual but letting it warm does help bring out characteristics. Fascinating to see how this develops but I can drink it right now and be very happy - possibly deserved higher score but will see what next year or two brings to this. Lovely.

Blind: Guessed California chardonnay and probably from Napa. No idea on the producer, I noted "could be anyone, popular stylistically".
Nose is sweet pear. Medium plus weight. Vanilla and a hint of caramel at the finish. The pear is there on the palate but balanced with citrus/lime notes. A creamy mouthfeel.

Opened yesterday, retasting today. There is power to this wine, maybe said differently, a concentration that really has a sexy quality to it. Yellow apple, fennel, lots of lime that drives the acidity. And I thought the oak last night was more prominent but I don't sense it today, at least not it being out of balance with the wine. There is some, adding a kick of vanilla to the finish, but then the lime and yellow apple take over and the balance remains. One final thought that comes to mind, too...the word 'juicy'. There is a juicy feel to the way this presents, and I dig it. This to me seems to be a very strong vintage for Thieriot.
This was singing. Lemon curd, citrus oils, custard and cream -- but with balanced acidity and a sappy, clinging finish that just would not let go. The oak adds roundness, texture and spice, but not raw lumber notes. Fantastic!

Nose hits you immediately with fresh sliced green apple, lemon curd, white flowers and hints of grapefruit. Showing nice acidity and freshness on the palate, this has just a hint of sweet juicy citrus fruit accompanying wet stone and mineral driven flavors. Well layered and textured, its firm and pure with a long finish. I'd guess this gets better for a couple years before hitting its peak drinking window. Still nice right now.

Needs time and just started to open at hour 3 or so. Loads of juicy melon, vanilla, lemon and floral elements. Nothing stands out other than its well crafted, smooth and has a beautiful Sauterne quality to it (color and texture). Likely plenty of upside with time if decanting.
