Bob Mandeau's 60th Birthday. Bright and angular with an almost briney/savory characteristic. It shows some weight and gorgeous lemon notes to go with a touch of honey. Lovely. This bottle tasted younger and leaner than I would have guessed.

Excellent bottle. Needed to warm up out of the fridge (for certain), but more important, it needed to breathe for at least 1 hour. Opened up meaningfully. Probably not as good as the bottle I had in 2015 (it started very lean, whereas the previous bottle started off a bit richer), but still a fine drink.

Excellent bottle. Similar to RayOB, I noticed a definite improvement through the bottle -- although it started pretty strong. Rich but not unctuous, wonderfully aged. Great finish A subtle wine that should be savored rather than drunk.

San Diego WineSpectator.com Offline, 11/4/2013 (Jsix Restaurant, San Diego): Clear light straw yellow-gold color. Did anyone else besides me think this bottle was corked? Or was it simply some age-related mustiness? The damp basement quality subsided with air, but did not disappear completely. Nevertheless it was possible to appreciate a very fine profile of damp earth, oak, Meyer lemon, apple, cream, and stony soil. Rating withheld.

No such thing as a great wine, only a great bottle of wine. Disappointing but still good. Nothing like the previous bottles I've had. With some air and strong coaxing, this showed a beautiful nose of lively pungent lemon, minerality/oyster shell, hazelnuts. Taste was similar and good but it was lacking the vitality that previous bottles have shown.

Corton-Charlemagne never fails to please and at its typical price point, it better not!
Beautiful crystal clear golden green color. Creamy lemon/citrus nose with a nice smoky hint; lemon/orange, lemon oil, and hazelnut flavors. Delicious and a wine worthy of sharing.
Really a treat - fragrant nose, density to the palate. Color is just a little golden, certainly not oxidized. Good match to dinner of pan fried chicken and cauliflower gratin

Chalky nose of acacia flowers, white fruits and minerals! Light golden color! Very tight at the beginning, after thirty minutes, things coming around, a little sweetness showing and a little vanilla, smooth and buttery in texture! But lacking depth! Can be kept for few more years to see how the wine develops!

Wine Spectator Offline, San Diego (Mimmo's, Little Italy): This was more Napa-like than many Napa chardonnays, in a good way. Neither flabby nor lean, this offers great balance and precision. Thanks to Phil for providing our FIRST PLACE wine of the night.

Wow! We have ourselves a winner here. Strong lemon oil aroma dominates along with white flowers. A myriad of flavors follow: lemon, almonds/nuts, steel/minerality. There was also an interesting and pleasing sour/bitter note riding along as well that I can't quite describe. If you're lucky enough to have this in your cellar, invite me over!

Louis Latour White & Red Burgundy Tasting (Monterrey, Mexico): Decanted from magnum two hours before consumption, this has the richest color among all whites in the tasting. The initial nose is dominated by burnt rubber and little else. With time and swirling, white flowers emerge. In the palate, it is fat, New Worldish, but disjointed. It improved tremendously through the night but the nose never catches up with the tremendous palate.
Decantado de una magnum dos horas antes de la cata. Tiene el color más profundo de todos los blancos de la noche. La nariz inicial es dominada (oootra vez) por hule quemado y nada más. A little subdued for a Corton Charlemagne. Still vibrant, and still has some ageing capicity. Has picked up some weight since laste tasting. Not a great vintage but an everyday Corton Charlemage. Charles' 70s themed Karaoke Birthday Bash (Waterloo Street, Singapore): Sweet, toasty nose with lashings of butter on the nose, along with dusky, chalky mineral and some sweet melon. Palate opened up rather buttery as well, but had a tough, minerally backbone to it and a nice seam of clean acidity supporting more sweet melon flavours. It finished with a hint of pineapple gummy, again rather sweet here. Very friendly wine, could do with more time in the bottle in integrate.

Night 1: Extremely disappointing. Nose is okay -- subtle scents of apple and pear, but creeping isopropl. Drinking quite poorly. Small dash of tight fruit on entry, thinning to strong minerals and ending on short metallic note.
Night 2: after breathing, wine has opened up a lot, gained some fullness mid-palate, good balance. Still short on the finish, however, but much better overall. Definitely let this breathe for a day before opening.

Perfectly agreeable but entirely forgettable. It's got balance and precision to spare, but there's little if anything going on here -- it shows the garden-variety pear, lemon, and (perhaps) minerality, along with the slightest accents of nuts and toast. Nice deep golden color, not the straw color from 2002. Wonderful nose of green apple, mineral. Taste is big and round. You start thinking it is going to be rough but it comes together on the mid-palate with a long deep finish. Smooth finish lasts long. Not sure what other people drank given the reviews but this bottle was great. Perhaps others had bottles that were flawed. Better than other Corton-Charlemagnes I have tasted.

Tasted at the home of Amy Weinberg. Bottle provided from my personal cellar. Bright disc. Medium straw robe with clear rim. Clean nose, showing very intense aromas of wet stones, pear and orange blossom. Medium-bodied on the palate, with good acidity and similar flavors as for the nose. The middle palate is somewhat muted but the resurrected finish is long and crisp. Clearly very nice, but in need time to flesh out and fill in the mid-palate.
