I just realized I tasted this wine over a decade ago. This has considerably aged and is less to my palate. Soil nose. Game and mushroom palate. Some spearmint which reminds me of the rare occasions I’ve drank Ramonet. Very little fruit though some rotting pineapple. Some others at the tasting liked this more than me.

Last of 6, opened 30 minutes, perfect cork and level, clean and pure, as previous good notes, showing greater acidity, au fond a tad simple but lovely in this vintage! F (17.5).

Looks like a 10 year old white. Hay yellow. On nose, lemon butter and curd, slightly candied nuts, some green herbs and white flowers. Nice and keeping it classy. But no fireworks. Restrained palate. Refined oak. Short attack but not a delineated structure either. Aka fat and short. Slightly bitter oaky finish. Not very giving or cerebral so suffers from a lack of identity. Not sure this will improve. A decent drop.

4th of 6, pnp, perfect cork and level, a tad less involving than last bottle, lightweight against CC 02 (Bouchard) on same night but much more enjoyable, best to drink whilst so good to give more time to excellent Charmes and Perrieres. F+ (18).

Mid light yellow (deeper yellow than 2011 also tasted); lots of depth, some petrol, butter, round, truffle; honey and petrol, deep and intense; very long aftertaste

Another Evening of Lafon in Red and White (Arlequin Wine Merchant, San Francisco): Medium yellow. Ah, this smells like Meursault-nutty but not oxidized. Medium to full bodied, lush and spicy, long and round. A splash of citrus and more than enough acidity to hold it together. Fully mature and an extremely enjoyable 2006, which is a white Burgundy vintage that I generally dislike for its flabbiness.

2nd of 6, pnp, perfect level, travel up half cork, touch better than December 15 note, tighter, purer, a tad more nuance but with same weight, the Lafon style works well in this vintage! Strong F (17.5).

Smells of almond butter, peach and flint. Full and rich in the mouth but has a cool quality to it considering the vintage. Not a hint of oxidation but drinking beautifully right now.

1st of 6, opened 30 minutes - pale yellow, slightly waxy; attractive bouquet, some flowers and stone, lemon twist; medium bodied, long and classy fruit, remarkable energy and persistence for an 06, very Lafon, currently showing better than Charmes, youthful and scope to improve. At least fine and better in context of vintage (17.5/20).

Always a joy to drink a lafon. Precise linear yet glorious and marvelous ripe yellow fruits with lemony lift. Delicious acidity with unquestionable minerality and even a bit of flint rock.

Dinner at Tao Seafood (Tao Seafood, Asia Square): A nice wine, if just lacking in a bit of cut and precision. It had a really nice nose, very Meursault, with lashings of butter and sweet cream and a touch of oak alongside ripe apple aromas, all underlined with lots of minerally scents. The palate showed the ripeness of the vintage as well – I actually thought it was a 2005 – with sweet red apples and creamy butter notes scored with lots of chalky undertones. There was decent if not great acidity, with little juicy squeeze of lemons at the finish. A little bit on the plump side for a Lafon I thought, lacking some of the sleekness that usually accompanies the fat with his wines. Still though, a very well crafted wine. I do not think that this has the structure or balance to be a 10-20 years, but it is still rather primary, and will develop overt the next few years.

Deep yellow golden color. The nose shows butterscotch, honey and lanolin. Very mature and "sherried" nose. The palate is fat, ripe and flat and is showing signs of oxidation. What a waste of $120, as this wine has oxidized 4 years after purchase, 6.5 years after harvest.

Aromas of lemon zest, hazelnuts, vanilla, minerality and baking spices. Med-full bodied and rich on the palate with citrus, golden apple, a touch of tropical fruit and hazelnut with a soft and very round Meursault mouthfeel and a satiny texure. Good acidity and overall, very well balanced with very good length -- well done given the vintage and that it is merely a village wine.

Dinner at La Chassagne (La Chassagne, Chassagne Montrachet): Fairly muted nose. Quite fat and leggy in the glass. Initially quite restrained on palte. Hmm, not so strong initially, but it does start to open up a bit. A touch of creme brulee coming out after 3 thours. Still quite unexpressive though. Shows sokme mineral intensity. Needs time. ***1/2

Burgundy 2006-2007 Tasting (Bistro Chernichovsky, Tel Aviv): Very close nose. Small hints of tropic fruit. After a few minutes in the glass, we got almonds also.
