A really beautiful example of how lovely 06 whites can be. Admittedly rather lackluster in most reds I have had, I find that this Ramonet typifies to aromatic intensity and balanced richness that I have come to love about the whites.
Certainly some fat around the edges, but that richness has lent to lasting and robust bottle - still in check. Wonderful.

Houze's Wedding; 12/9/2023-12/10/2023: Four hours of air, showed much better than a magnum from last month. Notable ripeness but very balanced, a powerful rendition of this wine with edge and fat. Structure is great. 93-94

2006 Ramonet BBM in perfect shape and drinking stupendously. Bouquet showed a bit more development than previous flight with lilies, jasmine, peppermint, ripe yellow fruit and cream. Palate shows some menthol/mint, yellow japanese peaches and orange/lemon oil with depth and steely minerality. Damm, this was pretty smoking!

Decanted and consumed 1 hour later. Tasted blind. Rich, ripe nose, some pineapple but has a little citrus oil and mint. Very spicy oak signature, really nice. Complex palate, with layered rocky material, slightly dilute but with a bitter finish that adds zing to the palate. Really nice and very surprised that this was an 06 on the reveal as I guessed 2010.

Coravin pour. Tight and muted. Opens up with air to reveal a yellow apple sweetness with a slight minty influence. Round and full mouth feel with a buttercream palate. Very full and lingering finish. Needs air to show, will slow ox for a few hours next time.

I haven’t had many good experiences with Ramonet but this is stupid good. Lemon heads, spices, vanilla cream, flinty and steely and minerally. The palate is awesome. It’s 06 and so it's big but has some cool flavors and balancing acidity. Full flavored with lemon heads, spices excellent minerals some nice cool menthol or mint. Really gripping and goes to all corners of the mouth. Just a bit clunky or burly on the end palate into finish but that's just nitpicking and the finish is great. Nose - 5-5.5/6, Palate - 5.5-6/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17-18/20.

Burgundy Dinner with Friends (S.K.Y. Restaurant - Chicago IL): Incredibly bright and fresh with bright yellow and green apple throughout along with mint, sassafras and so much energy. This started with good+ weight and finished the evening with great weight. This is the freshest bottle I've had in a long time.

In the context of 06 white burgundy, ramonet bbm stands out. Nose has spearmint, vanilla, yellow fruit and minerals. Palate is a bit ripe but the acidity is sufficient enough to keep this grand cru interesting. The fruit is lush and dense. Drinking at its peak. 91+

Blind White Burgs - Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet (Acadia): 2006 Ramonet flight. Crisp and fresh nose with just a hint of matchstick, ripe red apple and minerals. Yum, lush, concentrated and layered palate is delicious. Almonds, crisp red apple, vanillin and liquid minerals. Deep, layered finish. Outstanding.

Elegante, setoso e mantiene una certa scorrevolezza sconosciuta al Montrachet di stessa annata. Ottima interpretazione dell' annata, finale caldo, denso, eterno e foderante. Grande vino

A lithe wine, initially a touch of oak, a lovely cool minerality on the nose, a touch of spice, scent, flowers, with air and as it warms up a little tropical fruit. Linear, fresh, minerally lovely. Grand cru but so elegant.

No formal notes - over dinner. After decanting quite expressive and detailed on the nose - there is lots of yellow stone fruit, buttery notes, caramel, also some spearmint after a while. On the palate pretty focussed and linear with lots of minerality again, citrusy fruit notes and an impressively long and detailed finish. Drinking but will keep. 93-95

HDH auction tasting at Tru; 12/12/2014-12/13/2014 (Chicago, IL): A bit aggressive on the creme-brulee nose. There's also a hint of saline and lime peel. The palate is very restrained but slightly bitter. I'm not totally sold on this bottle. There's a definite egg custard component that I get from Ramonet, but this is really austere and not showing much else right now.
(Burgs w PaulS et al @AlexH's) Fresh white flowers, limestone, white stone fruits, complex nose. Buttery, somewhat hot, acidic, oxidative, glycerols. Grainy oak. Good limestone minerality, early drinking. Pleasant and accesible.

Another Casual Burgundy Dinner (Storefront Company - Chicago IL): Very similar to another bottle from earlier this year. Ripe peach aromas and flavors with good balance, even without the expected edge and acidity from more classic vintages. An extroverted wine that avoids being too flamboyant.

Keith's Blind Challenge 2013 (The Square, London): A little volatile initially, but it blows off. More like a young classy burgundy on the palate. Everyone else thinks new world but I really don't think so. Very classy, quite cool and brooding but with an intensity and density to it. Apparently I've had it before. Bother. Must be the 06 Ram BBM. Yes. ****

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted double blind. Lots of ripe stone fruit aromas and flavors, clearly from a very ripe vintage with impressive density, even if lower acidity. Very opulent and forward, modest spice. None of the telltale Ramonet mint. Probably best in the near-to-medium term. Much better than a recall from a couple of years ago, when the new oak seemed to protrude.

Keith P @ Trompette (La Trompette, London): Creamy with some richness on the nose. Very poised. Must be Puligny. Top premier or GC? Really lovely, a touch of cream, mineral, floral, long. Supreme poise. This is what every burgundy should aspire to. Slightly hazelnut nose star ting to develop. Stunningly nice. ***** stunned to find that this is 06. Was thinking 04/07 Leflaive Pucelles. After three hours the spearmint starts to develop, but this is still supremely poised and elegant for 2006.

Even as a youngster, this has been drinking so well of late and this bottle did not disappoint; it gives a lot of creamy richness along with a buttery, mild toastiness that blends in with the lemon, lime, orange flavors; the thick oily mouthfeel was overly pleasing; a nicely balanced wine that has come together early on.

Acker Merrall Inaugural Chicago Auction (Trump International Hotel): Started with classic Ramonet mint on the nose along with lush stone fruit. Palate shows lots of great power and intensity to start but oak protruded a bit in the middle. I'd like to see a bit more acidity, so I'm thinking this a medium-term Grand Cru already in its drinking window.

You receive a decidedly warm and generous greeting from the 2006 Ramonet Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet when you first meet it. The Ramonet spearmint permeates the nostrils with smells that remind one of Wriggly’s chewing gum and there are ripe orchard fruit notes, white lilies and some smoky minerals. In the mouth the wine is rich, heady and textured with big ripeness overlaying a bed of minerals. We were very much enjoying this wine until about half way into the second glass we realized there was the barest trace of tca (a Bastard act from Monsieur cork), it didn’t strip the fruit or detract too much from the wine but that annoying waft of Hessian was enough to distract one from what should have been a fabulous vinous treat.
