Compared to champagne, it’s darker, heavier, fruitier, less acidic, less bready. Is it fair to compare all sparklers to champagne? Baked yellow apple and not a lively mousse. Paired nicely with a spicy coconut fish dish.

Got this to serve to large non-geek Thanksgiving gathering. I wouldn't have been surprised with diffuse off-dry fruitiness and insufficient acid but this was pretty decent, with good focused acidity and structure, although not a lot of complexity. Pretty decent for low $20s.

Excellent QPR, featuring notes of Gala apple, Rainier cherry, Meyer lemon, and brioche throughout. Lively acidity keeps it on point, but there's a softness here that makes it a joy to drink.

A voluptuous generous sparkler, ripe and tart fruit, well kneaded yeast, softer floral mouthfeel, all in equilibrium, rotating sensory impressions as the earth turns and all's right with the world. One of my top two sparklers on my quest for sparkling - Champagne epiphany. May not appeal to connoisseurs of Brut acid tongueing tarts; I prefer kisses from gentler lips.

Pale salmon with medium intensity aromas of rose, strawberry , apple, and hazelnuts. The sparkler has high acidity and medium body with flavors of strawberry, apple, pear, brioche. The sparkler has a medium minus finish it is a good wine that should be drunk now with little potential improvement with aging.

Apple and toast on the nose. Good acidity and lemon and pear at the start, a richness in the middle, and then apple (not green) on the finish. Carries some sweetness to it. Pleasant, and the acidity holds its own against mussels in cream broth. Not bad at its price point.

This is exactly as advertised: baby Schramsberg. There is nowhere near the depth, richness or complexity of the vintage wines, but the character is clearly the same, if a little lighter here, more playful. It's still $20, so it's not actually a lot cheaper, and at this price point other CA sparklers like Roederer and Scharffenberger offer similarly broad distribution and perhaps slightly higher quality, but it's a nice sip all the same.

For the price, I think this is a rather great value, with more complexity than you might expect.
Beautiful heady aromas of cherry blossoms and witch hazel (a plant I love for its early spring flowers, pardon the possibly obscure reference!). On the palate, another wave of flavors: lemon, tarragon, and mint all showing up in happy succession, followed up a by a nice and clean chalky moment that washes into a calming herbal finish.

Lighter golden color with slight peachy tint and moderately aggressive, medium-sized bubbles. Nose: green/golden apple, white peach, and ripe lemon with accents of sourdough, creme brulee, honeysuckle, almond, and river stone. Medium body with scouring effervescence on the palate: mixed apples, white peach, and ripe lemon/lime citrus framed by almond, toasted brioche, vanilla, chalk, and honeysuckle. Medium+ acidity. Lingering almond, apple skin, and chalk on the moderate/long finish. Extremely well made, versatile, everyday bubbly. Competes with many Champagne bottlings at twice the price.

Pleasant vanilla and pear nose, but is a bit of a mess palatewise. Too sweet and not as interesting as their regular lineup.

Straw color with a very faint salmon tinge. Freshly baked biscuits on the hose. Off-dry with soothing flavors of yeast rolls and nuts. Enjoyed this one thoroughly! Salud!!

Poured at a retailer tasting. Slightly muted wih aromas of apples dominant. Flavors of tart apple with nice acidity and a decent finish.

Slightly sweet, w/ a baked bread nose. Not bad for the price.

What a nice bottle for the price. It's just good. Better then that Korbel the Sox are spraying all over the place.

I had a bottle for the first time a year ago and thought it was fantastic! Although I've been expanding my sparkling wine knowledge since then, I was very happy that it was just a lovely to drink as I remembered.

lovely and very romantic wine which seems like it would stand up to food very well. Off dry and nutty; balanced, this is a full bodied sparkling wine which deserves to be separated from lowly and distant cousins such as cava, prosseco, gruet etc Very Good.

Nice biscuity value sparkler. Straw color. Faint aromas of toasted bread and lemon. Citrus, nutty, and toasty flavors. Fairly impressive complexity, given the price.

$9 on clearance at Safeway, 12.5%. More austere than usual for a California sparkler, but good balance, medium-fine mousse, fine with food. Good+.
