Lovely, fragrant nose, red fruit, some sweetness, florals. Medium bodied, red fruit, spice, light tannins, fresh acids, medium length finish. Very good indeed nudging excellent, drinking well.

Nine red 2006 Burgs (Noize): A gorgeous, perfumed nose of truffle and sweet flowers. Soft and savoury on the palate, with some powdery strawberry and spice and a fair amount of grip; if not fully rustic, these were certainly not the most sophisticated tannins, but the whole package was quietly satisfying.

2006 Burgundy with a few additions (Noizé, London): Bright red fruits here, some lift and a touch of florality in time. Cornflowers? Also some squashed blueberries. Palate is a little less giving but with time in the glass and food relaxes a little.

Was expecting to be over the hill but still some life left here. Though agree it’s past peak. Muted red fruits (cherry) with faint mushroom and hedgerows. A bit of green (maybe not fully destemmed ?). Tight tannins. Nice pleasant wine at this stage but a bit faded.

Some VA on the nose. A bit reductive. Light colour browning at the rim. Pretty dried out and tired on the palate. Fruit gone. Lean with nothing much left.. Over the hill for this bottle.

Earth and a bit of dark fruit. After 20-30 minutes in the glass, tannins appeared and then settled and seemed to integrate. Light to medium bodied. Did not decant. Still plenty of life left in this bottle. Imported from European distributor in 2018.

Day 1: Gorgeous nose, I can't stop smelling this. Ripe berries and baking spices dominate but it seems to change constantly and I pick up some dried flower and savory notes as well. Unfortunately the palate doesn't match the elegance and intrigue of the nose. Medium bodied with black fruit, damp earth and prominent tannins. A touch rustic and disjointed at this stage, I think this needs 5+ years and I will give my remaining bottles that long. Plenty of potential here though. 88
Day 2: Corked and put in the fridge overnight. Better. Still black-fruited, not my Burg preference, but the tannins have calmed down and the flavors have integrated. Let this breathe up or, better yet, don't open for a few years.

Paul S's note nailed it, down to the smoky minerality and the savory herbs and spice. The only thing I would add is a touch of red raspberry fruit and earth on top of the strawberry and cherry fruit. At first, I thought this could grow into a 93 point wine with some air, but rather, the fruit started to fade after about an hour and the wine was much more secondary than I would expect from such a young bottle. Still very good and a steal for a high-quality, delicious Burgundy at $29. I plan to get a couple more to have some great, budget-friendly Burgundy on hand.

Trip to Burgundy; 6/7/2009-6/10/2009 (The Cote d'Or): This was excellent. Deep red colour for a pinot. Lovely typicity everywhere else though. Dusty nose with strawberries, violets and chamomile, very perfumed and high-toned, even with a touch of fragrant poutpourri. Very beautiful, perhaps showing some of a feminine winemaker's touch? Much the same on the palate, which was clean and balance, with super-fine, silky tannins that still gave a little grip. Lots of concentration on the fruit, with more dust, dried strawberries, cherries and flowers along with just a tiny hint of smokey minerality and some savoury herbs and spice. Very complex indeed for a 2006 Savigny. The tannins reasserted themselves afresh at the finish, which showed a little bittersweet herbs and a linger of prunes and dried strawberries. Medium-length here, but very nicely rounded. Wonderful thing is that the wine is still very young and can only get better with time. A smashing effort.

Not much going on here. Light body. A bit tanic on the finish. Lacking complexity and interest.

Surprisingly delicious and not at all "over the hill." A delight.

Cherries, blackcurrant - with hints of licorice and smoke. Very good.
Needed approx 1 hour to open up.
