It stood out with other 2005 Chambertin GC served in my BD dinner, as blowing aroma, smooth and lovely palate. It should be at the peak to dink up now.

One of the wines served in D's Wedding Anniversary dinner. It openned 3 hours in bottle before serving. The wine was lack of energy in this serving, subtle aroma and tasted like 酸梅汤。

Jim arranged a wonderful dinner with various themes on wines from Gevrey Chambertin. However, without pre noticed, we both brought this wine to the table, but found differences on the serving. Jim's had silkier and finer tannin as he double decanted and served in bottle after 4 hours, vs mine left in the bottle just 2 hours which shown much close and structured. Anyhow, this was a great Chambertin to enjoy now, but will last for a decade at least.

The Verticals Tasting at 2020 La Paulée de New York (Eventi Hotel, New York): Shockingly deep ruby. Complicated nose of earth and game. Relatively big and concentrated for a Gevrey Grand Cru. Spicy, long, roundly tannic, lovely earthy finish. This still needs a good 10 years and will be superb for far longer than that. A real bolt from the blue at the end of the tasting-unexpectedly great wine that left me shaking my head in admiration. One of the most impressive reds of the day.

Good not great. Left me wanting for more Grand Cru stature. Nothing wrong, just lacking the concentration, refinement, complexity and power I'd hope for in a Chambertin from 99.

Mørk kirsebærrød med modne kanter. Moden rød frukt med et delikat preg. Brune, rustikke toner samtidig som det parfymerte florale preget. Bredskuldret og breial vin i munn med god balanse. Forførende vin i full utblomstring. Kort notat skrevet sent på kvelden.

Vibrant fruit but really contained. Just coasting along, barely beginning its journey. Shows some smoke, intense dark fruits, coffee and flora. It has flesh, volume, presence and length. It kind of sneaks up on you, yet is a wine of authority and fabulous length.

Dégusté plusieurs fois avec des fortunes diverses, il s’est montré hier sous son meilleur jour. Fin et distingue sur des notes de réglisse et de cacao amer. Long. Vraiment bon.

Some barnyard on the nose, currently secondary stage of evolution. Lots of acidity, especially on the finish, which comes across as dry. Not currently in a good place.

This particular bottle was not stored under completely ideal conditions. Upon opening the future did not seem good. 20 min in it was singing. Raspberry essence, round and smooth. Funky and confusing whist being absolutely wonderful. Cherry and mushroom

A Mix Grand Cru & Premier Cru Red Burgs Plus a Few More (Edina Country Club, Edina, MN): Very dark red color. Slow-O for 1 hour. Drank 2 pours over 3 hours. This had a really interesting and fun nose, at one point there was this Frito-Lay corn chip note that was unmistakable, but later it seemed to disappear into the background to show prominent earthiness with mushrooms, cherry, and tons of minerality. The palate is medium full bodied, with raspberry, tart cherry, very mineral driven, red berries, earth, firm tannins. This is drinking quite young yet. 91+(+)pts.

Clear purple on color. Clean nose of bell pepper and cherry. Dry, med acidity, med body, bigger tannin than expected at 14 years old. Red cherry, leather, and some earthy notes on palate. Nice wine but was hoping for more. Not allot of fruit and not overly complex. Don't think age will help this wine. Drink now

Dark ruby, a little cloudy but not a fault as unfiltered and unfined. Nose is menthol, eucalyptus, clove, black cherry. On the palate the wine is powerful, with black fruit and pronounced tannin. Chewy and black cherry/berry fruit. Wonderful stuff.

Enjoyable wine, but not amazing considering the vineyard and vintage. Still quite young and tight. Tangy red fruits on the palate and nose. A bit tart and angular. Medium finish. Maybe it needs more time.

Not sure whether it was this bottle or the wine in general, but not a very good expression of either the vintage or the wine. Sort of acidic and tannic, not at all what I expected of this wine. Had it alongside 02 BF Upper Terrace with Peking Duck and the food overwhelmed this but was awesome with the BF.

Deep hue of rich garnet in the glass with a slight amber ring around the edge - showing some age. The wine has a moderate nose of earth, some fig, white pepper, mild oak. Upon tasting, this wine really begins to show its stuff. Although it was a pop and pour with no decanting, there is an immediate palate of meatiness that is enhanced by some oak, minerality and dark berry. Hint of fig, currant. This bottle was wonderful - went very, very well with the grilled lamb being served. At $200, the QPR is a wee bit off.

La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Walk around tasting, in 12/99/76 vertical. Dense black fruit with power throughout and still finishing with firm structure. Good overall, but I wanted more from Chambertin in a great vintage.

During a Paulee dinner so only brief impressions. Earthy, good aromas, but very burly, elegance missing. Feels over-extracteed. Aromas 92, palate 88.
