This has matured quite nicely. While I don't think that this would continue to mature, it shows now signs of fading, and I think it would continue to show well for at least another 5 years. Paired well with dry aged Flannery hanger steaks.

Medium purple. There was an enticing sweetness on the nose of this blue and dark berried wine with floral and warm ocean scents lingering in the background. Full mouthful of plump ripe blackberry and dark cherry compote. Good energy, plush tannins and excellent length although not overly complex. This bottle was in a really good place right now and delicious drinking on its own although a nice piece of meat would no doubt have worked well with it too.

Every bottle I have had of this wine has been spectacular. I have one bottle left. My back end year for the drink window has been 2025. The Pro Reviewers say it should last longer. I do not believe this one can improve. I am going to drink that last bottle over the next year to insure it does not get away from me.

About a year since most recent previous bottle, and it has faded somewhat. Reasonably well balanced, but everything is now somewhat muted. Plums and assorted dark fruits, and the vanilla has thankfully receded significantly. Minimal tannins up front, but nice, refined tannins on the above-average finish. It's past time to drink up.

Drinking fantastic. Tannins still present providing structure with grit. Dark fruit flavors, medium to full bodied, long lasting flavor through the finish.

I thought a bottle I had eight months ago was pretty lame, an over-manipulated latte with some jammy fruit stirred in. This one wasn't half bad. The fruit (plums and black cherries) wasn't jammy and wasn't overwhelmed by vanilla. This one was reasonably rich, and the finish was better-than-average. If it sold for around $50 (which it should), I'd give it a 90 or 91. However, the QPR is among the lowest in history, and you can get as much (if not more) enjoyment from a Whitehall Lane, Provenance, or Sequoia Grove.

Every bottle of this wine I have opened has been a hit. However, this bottle was moderately better than prior tastings. It seemed very ready before, but has definitely improved. While it is in a great drink window right now, I might let this one sit for a while longer.

A really solid $45 Cabernet - worth every cent. Wait a minute - I paid $78 plus shipping, and the current release is selling for $120. Decent nose, quite jammy, medium body (at best), and a rather abrupt finish. Even Caymus was making much better Cabernets back in 2007 (before they evidently stole a page from the PlumpJack playbook). PT Barnum was right.

PnP, then consumed over the next 24 hours. Classic 07 Napa cab. Wonderful fruit flaves, perhaps to jammy for some. Softening tannins, no sign of burning out. Last bottle, wish I had more.

Drank prior to a 2008 Quintessa. I think that my taste profile is starting to change. I used to love a young california cab that is fruit forward. I am noticing that I like a middle age cab with some secondary characteristics. This one, despite being 10 years old, was still a VERY fruit forward wine. Nose was plums and violets. The taste was all milk chocolate and dark stewed fruits. A very good wine.

Fruity and powerful out of bottle. Almost chewed the wine. With nearly 12 hours of time, less fruit forward, and a spicy middle with lingering aftertaste. Too young unless looking for a fruit explosion.

Dark purple and youthful in color. Currents, cranberry and red licorice on the nose. Young but in a good drinking window. Tart, red fruit oriented, good depth, and nice finish of cherry and currents. Nicely nuanced oak. Young tannins. Should continue to drink well for a decade. Does need two hours of air or decanting yo be at its best

See previous note from 2011- this wine definitely improving with age; integrated oak now- a complete wine, balanced;mid palate luscious and viscous, very long finish with smooth sweet tannins; great blue and black fruit with a touch of tar/licorice and minerality too. Wow.

Wine was purchased in September of 2009 direct from Plumpjack Winery. Cork was broken in half when pulled from the bottle but no sign of the bottom half of the cork and the wine had seeped into the broken half. I assume the cork was broken when it was sealed. ,wine was oxidized very badly.

Second Sunday Group: 2007 California Cabs/blends (R&D's): Notes of dark fruit, sous bois, chocolate and cassis. Flavors of scorched earth, dark fruit, wood and oak. Adds a sour dark fruit aroma and flavors of vanilla and caramel. Long finish. Firm tannins.

4th of July Weekend Wines - Lots of 'em; 7/3/2014-7/7/2014 (Northeast Ohio): This was really good. Still on the youthful side, it is drinking beautifully today. This was decanted, I believe for about an hour. Purple in color. Cassis, plum, dust, vanilla, cocoa on the nose. Lush and juicy texture. Lots of stuffing although tightly bound. Great width and depth. Nice finish. Another 5 years I think will be well rewarded. Really a beautiful wine.

This was a nice wine that already seems like it has entered its drinking window - even if it is still on the young side. I got flavors of dark cherry, plums, chocolate, earth, and spices. The finish is also quite long, but is a bit one dimensional. While this Plumpjack is certainly good, I do not believe that it is a good value at current prices. There are many other Cali cabs in the $100 price range that drink much better. In fact, there are also some $50 Cali cabs that would likely beat this Plumpjack in a blind tasting (any regular Rivers Marie cabernet for example).

Drank with wine group alongside other napa cabs (Ladera HM 09, Shafer 06 and napanook 08). Was one of the highlights in the group, with extreme concentration of black, blue and red fruit, somewhat resolved but still apparent oaky vanillin and silky tannin. Drinking really well now and starting to transition from the youthful punch of fruit and structure.

This is an absolute gem. Yes, there's the napa trademark of sweet vanilla from heavy oak use, but it's balanced so well with complex, lush blue, red and black fruit plus a silky tannin finish that I have nothing but high regards for this effort. I've had three of these at this point, all with outstanding results. The price has escalated beyond $140/bottle, rightfully so, which makes me wish I would've invested in an additional case or more - not to resell, but to drink moving forward. Other vintages of this wine are good, but don't quite have the resonance of 2007. Nice work.

Young. Displays a fruity character and a full body, but it is not a fruit bomb. Rather, it is pleasant and has a incipient elegance. The problem is that it is not balanced. The aromas of alcohol predominate. Maybe it improves with aging. Drunk at North Grill, a steakhouse in São Paulo - Brazil

The nose hits you in the face....dark, dark cherries, stewed plums, sweet herbs, slight earth. Dark fruit on the palate. A little hot on the finish (high alcohol). Finish is coming through slightly of vanilla, cherries. Has grip. I should have decanted. Will allow the other bottle to sit in the cellar for at least another year or two.

Big wine. Deep black/purple color. Totally opaque throughout. Massive amount of fruit and extraction in genera - super young as welll. Nose shows seriously dark blackberries, cherries, dark roast espresso and bitter dark chocolate. There was a considerable amount of heat as well. I like big wines, but this just didn't show the balance. After a few hours of air, some of the heat blew off, but the almost port-like extraction wasn't jiving. Flavors of dark coca cola, chocolate and black rock were completely overwhelmed by the intense heat. Too much for me. I rated this an 89 because it was intriguing and for half the price, it would be understandable, but at $75 - no. One of the first below 90 pt disappointments of '07 ultra-premium Cabernet.

From a half bottle. Still way too young, but already developing a lovely nose. Good color, lots of dark fruit supported by firm tannins. Just an incredible depth of flavor. Long, pleasant finish. Still quite grippy, but should develop well over the next decade. Would like to taste this again in about five years or so.

Texturally reminds me of the '03 Colgin IX Estate (which is also 9W5A). Well-integrated oak, light olive undertones and a core of warm black raspberry. In the mouth, juicy, rich, and polished, all at the same time. Med+ to high tannins, with a pleasantly smooth texture. Med-to-full body, med acid, hints of earth and red-fruits on the palate. 89-92 pts.

Delivers exactly as promised. No mystery but no asvendant notes either. Silver Oak 2.0, and that's not a complaint.

A very good wine, but I was expecting greatness from this one and was slightly disappointed. Smooth, easy tannins and very good fruit. Lots of blackberry.

Deep dark red color. Scents of dark berries. Tastes of dark berry, and some presence of herb, not too tannic.

- Medium forming legs. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Smooth texture with a medium finish - Beautiful dark purple core fading slightly to a purple rim. Cassis, plum, chocolate and spice on the nose. Full tannins with chocolate, dark berry, and soft spice on the palate. Opening up nicely after about 1 hour. Nice long finish.

I have to stop drinking these! Great wine now, but slightly out of balance with prominent tannins and a bit of bitterness. This will be a blockbuster in 5 - 10 years.

This wine seems flabby to me - big fruit, with no balance and mild tannins. surprising given the age. This has been one of my favorite producers for a long time, but i admit, i'm a little disappointed with this vintage. plan to hold for atleast a year and see if it improves.

Soft round full of black and red fruit, oaky bacon fat... This takes on more weight the longer it sits in the glass. The tannins are sweet and silky smooth... Absolutely delicious; not sure of aging potential here but it sure is a great cab today! Enjoy this youthful exuberance...

4th Saturday Group brown bagger (Mike & LA's): Opens with notes of vanilla and butter, followed by red currants, pomegranate and game. Balanced, with fine tannins and flavors of dark fruit and vanilla, hint of licorice on the back end. Lovely.

Very big and very jammy - decanted for about four hours and tannins subsided a bit. Next bottle won't be opened for at least 4-5 years - great potential as deep plum, oak started to emerge at the end

89-92 pts.
