Definitively a Chard with some age. Darker yellow in color. Honey and lemon, still a slight floral scent on the nose. Well rounded on the mouth, a bit glycerine. Paired well with a chorizo, corn and scallop dish.
The wine looks yellow gold colored. The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like lemon and honeysuckle.

Popped and poured and was an obvious New World Chardonnay from the first whiff. Has great acid and the oak is defiantly in check, but still the ripeness of the fruit makes it obvious what it is. Checks in at 14.8% Alcohol, but with the large fruit profile balances out nicely. Not my style of wine, but very good for what it is. If you are looking for a fruit forward, California Chardonnay, this is a great choice.

Medium gold color. PNP, drank 2+ glasses over 2 hours. This bottle was back to where I felt was peak drinking. The nose is focused with good purity, lemons and mineral sharing top billing with light floral elements that emerge after 20-30 minute, melon, light toast. The palate is precise, lemon, lemon oil, mineral, citrus zest, toasted nuts, , excellent depth and energy, intense with just a glint of sweet fruit essence on the mid and late palate. Very, very good.

Jan's Birthday of "No Particular Significance" (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Medium gold color. PNP, drank 1+ glass over an hour plus. Outstanding bottle. Nose is powerful, lemon, butter, toast, earth, minerality. The palate wow's from the start, lemon, melon, round and viscous, full bodied but not at all heavy, tangy with some citrus zest and minerality, medium plus finish. Reminded me of a fine Puligny-Montrachet. Seemingly at its zenith, yet showing no indications of a decline at present. I would be comfortable holding this another year or two. 93+ to 94pts.

Dark Golden color with med legs. Nose of peach/floral and slight oak. Full body and acidity and oak have tapered off leaving a well balanced wine. Fruit is still somewhat bright and has a long finish. Drank slightly below room temp and was just right. Would not hold and drink now. Had another bottle approx. 6 months ago and actually felt like may be declining.

Potpourri of Wines (Judith's House): Light medium gold color. Drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. I keep trying to overlook the things in this wine that I do not like ( too much oak, not enough fruit, lack of acidity ) and tell myself that it is a style issue and not the wine. After finishing the last of four bottles purchased and consumed over two years I find them consistently average.

Medium gold color. Pop and poured, drank 2 glasses over an hour. I have to say first off that I really enjoyed this wine. This comes off as mineral driven, yet the fruit component is fresh and lively. The nose has fresh elements white stone fruits, clean minerality, nuts - almond, a hint of butterscotch and some white flowers. The palate has that rich fullness, stone fruits again, pear, mineral, long clean finish. 92+ to 93 pts.

color: medium golden, pretty light for cali chard nose: marzipan, marshmallow, citrus, a slight hint of burnt caramel (oakiness) taste: zesty acidity on the attack, which turns into a lemon-lime soda mid palate. a nice saline/mineral characteristic on the mid-palate as well. a bit of heat on the finish. nice weight on the palate with a slight creaminess, and finishes strong. solid, not great

Beautiful bright golden hue. Notes of pineapple, lime, and sweet oak on the nose. Vibrant, lively, and tart on the palate with flavors of green apple and pineapple. I bought this at a local wine store in Arlington, VA for my brother's retirement celebration from the Air Force. Popped and poured - wow! This wine is really nice floral and fruity taste, a bit acidic compared to others like Kistler, but still nice, refreshing not too sweet. The nose is the good part, it is pineapple, not regular pineapple but the white lifesavers in the assorted pack like I got when I went to the movies as a kid, the white semi-clear ones, that pineapple...exactly. I liked it a lot.

This wine typifies the criticism of California Chardonnay. Nothing interesting or distinctive about the wine. Sqeaky clean, citrus fruit with a little butter and vanilla oak flavors, lacks viscosity, depth, structure, and character, nevertheless well made effort with no flaws

A visit to Shafer (Shafer Winery, Napa CA): Green gold in color. The nose has vanilla and limes. Pretty nice and not over bearing oak. On the palate, there is a crispness which is nice with some lime notes. It is also slightly searing and slightly bitter. Long, but not pleasant finish. The oak shows much more on the palate. The wine sees no ML, which I like, and its mos so much style, but I find few Cal Chards I like. At $45, this is an easy pass for me, but ymmv.

I ususally don't like these so young, but maybe by tastes are changing. This is barrel fermented and does not go under any malolactic fermentation. Nose of vanilla, lemon oil with toasty, leesy flavors. In the mouth, rich, without being overly woody. It's weird saying it's rich AND clean, but it is. Another good Thanksgiving Day wine.

COLOR: Bright, light lemon NOTE: Nose is very creamy, banana and other tropical fruits. Mouth is crisp tropical fruite buttressed by lemon peel (no malolactic here). Nice cream goes into 15+ sec finish with brulee & a little rawness (cut grass?). 75% new French oak, 25% stainless steel.
Fuji apple, pear and a touch of vanilla on the nose that just jumps out of the glass. In th mouth it offers a nice creamy & smooth feel with a elongated finish. Great chardonnay my only bottle but will order more. My wife who dislikes chardonnay gave it a 93 to go with my 91++

Shafer Vineyards Seminar with Doug Shafer (Lincoln Park Binnys Tasting Room): Nose: Intense flavors of bright tropical fruit, almonds, nut. Full bodied, with lean fruit and balancing acidity. Plenty of alcohol. Lush mouthfeel. Long finish. Beautifully balanced.

Crisp but with some small hints of oak that were pleasant and not overly done. Lemon and green apple with nice mouth feel.

Stoney apple and oak. Flavors are integrated and they linger. Very solid, dependable Chard, but not exciting, no burst of flavor, no suprises.

This wine typifies the criticism of California Chardonnay. Nothing interesting or distinctive about the wine. Sqeaky clean, citrus fruit with a little butter and vanilla oak flavors, lacks viscosity, depth, structure, and character, nevertheless well made effort with no flaws

1st wine served at Thanksgiving. Performed better than most chardonnays with some nice citrus notes and a lot of butter and cream. Not quite the purity of fruit to make it 90+ for me at the end of the day.

Hennepin Lake Tasting; 10/20/2010-11/12/2010: Really nice wine with subtle oak, spice, apple and pear. Fruit is the main component in this wine and the sublte oak and spice add complexity.

COLOR: Bright, light lemon
NOTE: Nose is very creamy, banana and other tropical fruits. Mouth is crisp tropical fruite buttressed by lemon peel (no malolactic here). Nice cream goes into 15+ sec finish with brulee & a little rawness (cut grass?). 75% new French oak, 25% stainless steel.

They really make a great Chardonnay. Well balanced and put on some weight since May with just a touch of oak.

Tropical fruit, citrus, oaky spice. Riper than I remember and a bit hot, but still a very nice CA Chard.

NIce citrus perfume nose. yellow/greenish hue, some buttery tones but not too much, wet stones and minerals, lemon peel. This was a crisp, medium bodies chard with bright acidity, not over oaked, well balanced, ripe intense fruit with a long finish

Oaky vanilla nose; soft, fat, mid-high viscosity; low acids; good fruit and finish; a little one dimensional.

Slightly toasty nose of white peach, green apple and d'anjou pear. On the palate, nice up front acidity with honeyed fruits and some vanilla tones. Lovely kiss of oak on the finish.

The nose had aromas of lemon, stone and toast, with flavors of butter, lemon and some toasty oak. They did not over oak though as the fruit flavors really came through with a 30+ second finish.

Retail tasting. Rich tropical fruits. Subtle, balanced oak. Crisp acidity (no malo). Great stuff - a perfect representation of the style of CA Chard I like. Food friendly, but makes for a great sipper as well.
