This wine is maturing beautifully and steadily improving. When it was young I was a bit disappointed in it for a grand cru, but the extra cellaring is paying off now. Very nice - and lots of body for a Chablis.

{Brought by LT to dinner with BW and JL as well; at Lenox Sophia; failed to write down any notes so from memory) Classy grand cru Chablis, minerals/fruit/length/saltiness all you might expect from a great producer like Moreau from Clos. Vibrant, full, long, fireworks aromatics. Yum.

good long branded cork, pale straw colour, superb nose, just screams Grand Cru class and power, strong mineral character with complex fine fruit behind, palate with depth, power and concentration, quite dry at the finish with restrained but sufficient acidity, long, overall distinctly soft and rich reflecting the year, more classic Grand Cru White Burgundy than specifically Chablis although the distinct chalk and mineral character could give it away, perhaps a bit atypical but still a great wine, a class act

served blind I would have picked this as a top class white burgundy but would not have tipped Chablis, reflecting the warm year it is quite powerful and generally rich, buttery and quite soft but with excellent length and balance, the acid is present and gives the necessary subdued bite at the finish but it is masked by rich sweet fruit, especially on the mid-palate, colour still pale yellow and very fresh but certainly at its peak and showing the integration of components and complexity that comes of age, fine complex deep nose and real power on the palate, truly “grand cru” in its power and complexity, but not, in my limited experience of Le Clos, really typical in this warm year, surprisingly only 13% alcohol

Drank with Modern Asian - oysters, chicken Bao, pork belly. As per other notes, a full bodied almost non Chablis now. Tastes of white fruits and oaks. Colour now yellowed. Glad had meal with it. Prior notes on questioning malo fermentation stand.

It’s been a good 3 yea since we tried this last ( Papies 92) and now at age 9 it’s very pretty and happy wine. Evolved but still alive and bright, honeyed citrus, mineral, limes and soft honey finish. Surprisingly good wine and a solid 91-92.

My last bottle. This had enough Chablis character to recognize it as Chablis non-blinded, but I don't think I would have known without seeing the label. Grand cru density from a warm vintage, and some oak showing in this broad shouldered wine. Nice cut keeps it in balance, and a little limestone minerality belies its region of origin. This particular bottle would have lasted for years based on its present evolution.

Full bodied and would seem to have gone through malolactic fermentation ? But acidity there of Chablis. This hot vintage shows - white fruits of melon and hints of apple. Good minerality there as well. At its peak - wouldn’t keep them much longer

Full yellow. A squirt of citrus but really more yellow apple and pear with increasing ocean spray. Full bodied, more than a little wood. Ripe fruit as above with back end structure primarily provided by good stoniness rather than acidity. Very fresh. An excellent ripe vintage Grand Cru.

Medium intens nese. Noe rik stil; nesen domineres av moden gul frukt. Østers, grønn te, og beskjeden eik. Fremstår som samlet på duft. Moden fruktig stil i munn. Ingen dårlig chablis, men skuffende til GC å være, og da spesielt Clos. Mangler konsentrasjon, nerve og lengde. Medium utgang.

From Magnum. The nose is rich and ripe, showing aromas of citrus, golden apple, minerals and white flowers. This is medium full bodied on the palate with very good concentration and good finesse. The fairly long finish features a strong mineral element.

Medium yellow. Lovely, fragrant citrus and brothy elements. Very round, glycerine entry, pure fruit, and wonderful finishing acidity and minerality. Bigger than the 2010 we had the other night, and atypically, probably a hair better than that wine. Really good structure for this richer vintage.

Very clean at times austere, mineral, stony fruits, light citrus notes. Very much alive and vibrant and a joy to cross paths for anyone looking for a less fatty more mineral chablis. We have one more bottle and we will let that one age another 5 years as we think its worth the gamble. 92 for now.

Took a while to open up and certainly needed to warm up a little. Nectarine and mineral nose. Viscous palate with sweet fruit; the acidity is not where I would expect it for this wine, but the wine maintains good structure. Kept getting better over two days. Really nice and improving even on third evening. Darkening golden, looks older than it is. Crushed oyster shell, plump golden apple, lemon tart, buttercream, sweet kiss of oak on the nose. Rich and sumptuous on the palate, mixing creamy sweet fruit with wet stones and seashells. Acidity is there, but matched by a layer of honeyed lushness. I actually quite like the way they play together, as if a touch of Meursault and a bit of Aubert mixed in with the Chablis underpinning. 92-93

Light yellow with white rim. Predominantly citrus aromas followed by wet stone cannot be contained in the glass and overflow generously. Very rich and without any dissonance in the flavor elements. Beautifully balanced and with a long, mouth-watering finish. To me, exemplifies the kind of elegant restraint that demands notice. Another wine that would be very nice on my (very short) list of wished for house wines.

Popped and poured. Light gold in glass. Nearly inaccesible on the first day, this youthful Chablis needed a good 24 hours before opening to reveal pretty aromas of oyster shell, flint, grapefruit zest, lemon peel, and a subtle floral, almost grainy aroma (jasmine rice?). Medium-light body, nice concentration. Tart citrus and stone fruits veering almost into tropical on the palate, with helps to keep the decent acidity in check. Impressive close. Youthful Chablis. Give this a decent decant or else forget about it for at least 2-4 years.

Burghound in Asia Grand Tasting (St. Regis Hotel, Singapore): A bit step up from the Cru 1er Vaillons tasted alongside. Not the best Les Clos in the world, but a very nice wine nonethless. Like the Vaillons, this was also of the more fleshy, more modern ilk, but at least the Chablis comes through more, with flinty mineral hints running alongside sweet stone fruit and pineapple scents on the nose. A little nutty whiff brought up the rear. The palate had a mouthwatering feel that I really liked, with round acidity lending a nice juicness to weighty flavours of fleshy white fruit and slightly sweeter stone fruit notes. It would have been very impressive if not for a slight lack of cut and focus and a finish which was decent rather length. Otherwise, it was good wine in a rich, ripe style.

Burghound in Asia Grand Tasting (St-Regis Hotel, Singapore): Creamy, nutty, tropical fruits and oak, quite fine. The nose is definitely better than the mid palate in term of complexity and depth, as the palate is quite normal, flat and lack of tension, with very spicy, mineral finish. Buy - No.

Tasted alongside the Vaudesir and Valmur. Here more cream and toast on the nose. Soft, lengthy finish, almost new world like in its Chardonnay character. Overall, not that these Moreaus are bad or uninteresting wines, but ’09 certainly seems to have delivered them into a very international style. Missing, or at least not present, was a sense of chalk or minerality.
