Winery notes: Located in the Sauternes commune of Bordeaux, France, Château Haut-Bergeron has been in the capable hands of the same family since the end of the 18th century. In the 1950’s the estate was expanded into nearby vineyards as well as into Barsac. Haut-Bergeron is a venerable property, with over 61 acres of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle under vine. Sauternes is a magical combination of terroir, specific climate conditions and winemaking ingenuity. There are few table wines that require such diligence in the vineyard and cellar—the resultant wines are highly sought after and prized by wine aficionados the world over. The bouquet opens with heady aromas of succulent pineapple, honey and crystallized ginger. On the palate, one finds an exquisite fusion of golden fig, dried apricot, honeycomb and almonds. The rich texture is enveloped in a substantial structure, elevating the wine elegantly through the finish. Château Haut-Bergeron is the top-medal winner in the Sauternes region with 61 gold and 28 silver medals awarded since 1963.
