  • This bottle was given to us as a novelty because my last name matches the Chateau, and it's been sitting around for years. Over that time, the color has darkened from a light apricot yellow, to a tawny amber-orange. Finally we hosted Thanksgiving and had enough folks (11 of 'em) around the table to try this sweet, sharp Sauterne with their pumpkin pie dessert. A little of this nectar goes a long way, but a perfect pairing; bite of pie, sip of Sauterne, and maybe a little nip of coffee. Quite lovely, with bright flavors of honey, stone fruit, and pear.

  • Bright apricot color. Delicious.

  • Color: deep gold. Classic Sauternes bouquet of pineapple, coconut, apricot and peaches. More citrus than creme brulee. Interestingly youthful nose but mature appearance. Palate was quite heavy, viscous. Peaches and apricots, noticeable botrytis. Hmmm . . . acidity is definitely too low; this comes across as cloying, syrupy. Good concentration and depth, unfortunately this is just out of balance. I see that I gave this a 91 about 6 months ago; probably a bit too generous.

  • Had this at our New Years party - delicious! Lots of traditional apricot, honeysuckle, and lemon curd. The first bottle we had a while ago must have been corked.
