The joy of crossing paths with well aged Raveneaus is an experience we cherish a new try really hard to. And this time like before it did not fail us. 17years young, and albeit not glossy in colour still it was shining, nose still had the last few kisses of oak complimenting the well matured fruit. We expected it to be less fatty given a premier cru but this had actually a lot of weight, soft honey notes too. Such a great wine and an easy 94-95 here and with a lot of life ahead.

Jamie's DC visit Barolo and Barbaresco: Medium expressive nose displaying very ripe yellow fruit, passion fruit, dry peach, lemon curd, honey, burnt sugar, beeswax and a hint of limestone mineral. Good concentration, deeply toned ripe yellow fruit, a bit heavy and cloying, and a medium long very ripe yellow fruit driven finish with burnt sugar at the end. I am hoping that this is a bit advanced example.

Raveneau's 2005 Montmains wasn't a great wine in its youth but it shows how well this master of Chablis can age, with a beautiful nose of acacia honey, crushed stone, and lemon. The palate is similarly flavored but unfortunately much less intense, moderate-low concentration and length. Great acidity still. Drink now.

Served blind. My mind wondered between Northern Rhône, Burgundy - and Napa Chardonnay; bees wax texture was the most prominent factor, the acidity finally made me guess Burgundy 2004 - though not Chablis. This is full bodied, round, vibrant and a point right now I thinks. Minerals galore og compåared t the Drouhin le Clos, that we enjoyed together six months ago - this is much better. With HSA @Palægade

Wines Tasted at HDH Auction (Spiaggia - Chicago IL): Small glass, brief note. Ripe for Raveneau Chablis with good+ weight, just less minerally or texturally nuanced than I'd prefer or expect, certainly less so than Forests. Still, certainly enjoyable.
