HM's Bruno Clair SLB 1er Cru La Dominode Vertical + Other Gems (Absinthe, Boat Quay): Third time with the 1988 Clair Dominode. Two years down the road from the last bottle, this seems to be weakening. Still very charming, but it was clearly starting to get tired. The nose was still very pleasing, with little furry hints on the nose along with bassy notes of meat and earth, sweet aromas of dried cherries and dried berries, a little bramble and spice, some floral notes, a line of stony minerality - quite a beautiful bouquet. The palate was very juicy, with delicious flavours of dark cherries and plums blessed with plenty of fresh acidity. It was clearly thinning out a little on the base though, finishing a little short as well, with a burst of spice and some lingering meatiness. Very pleasant still, but time to drink up.

This wine was delicious and had an elegant style to it. Color was ok - brickish red. It didnt have a lot of fruits going on but it was well balanced in its earthiness. Very easy to drink and wish I had another bottle.

A Texan comes to town and we gather at a new hot spot in Jersey City. (Thirty Acres): This has clearly entered the old age home as there's precious little fruit left and the wine is dominated by earth, leather and tea flavors and aromas. There are faint embers of strawberry fruit lingering around, but not enough to stand up to all the tertiary development and drying tannins. A pleasant dried roses note does make a brief appearance, but there's no denying this wine is pretty dried out at this point. B-.

'Dragon's vintage dinner (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck @ Paragon): Alcohol :: 13% From 80+yrs old vines. Medium brick red with light hue. Perfume with wildness, burn caramel, red cherry, earl grey tea and touch of spices. Pretty light on the entry with delicate mouth feel. Still possess good level of sweet fruits at the core with resolved, well integrated tannin that end with good intensity and slightly rustic, spicy infused finish with dried tea leaves aftertaste. This does offered intensity of old vines and the should still be drinking well for the next 5yrs.

Beautiful floral nose, fresh, red fruits, raspberries and red currants. Richness of the red fruit grips the palate. Well crafted, elegant and alluring.
