Clear ruby center, faded but no browning at the rim. All stem aromas to start, then joined by spice and fruit later. Poised, medium weight, excellent feel although it never achieves complete silkiness since the structural elements persist. Plum and black fruit, rising spice, a bit of soil and chocolate. There is little remaining tannin, and at this point, the wine is propelled by really excellent acidity. This was at its most succulent at the 3 hour mark when the fruit balanced out the whole cluster profile. After that, it closed up and the stem elements won. Outstanding but short of great, and notably, better than a bottle 5 years ago.

Brad and Diane England and Peter Joseph weekend dinner, Part 2. (Roger Nellans home): Served alongside the'90 and '91 DRC RSV. Great anticipation on this wine, as I had previously ( 2011 ) given this wine 99 pts. Although a very good wine, it was out shadowed by the '90 DRC. Color was good, and excellent bottle fill. Darkest of the three. Spice and stems on the nose. Slightly more tannic and structured than the DRC's. Not as silky and balanced as the '90 DRC..perhaps losing some fruit, accounts for the change noted from before. I would probably drink up if still holding in your cellar.

I liked it, but there was less going on than anticipated. Bottle was in excellent shape, no quality problems. The juice is simply very good versus great.

Dark fruited with lots of herbs and spice. Big and powerful. Doesn't quite feel like everything is in perfect focus but still enjoyable.

White cap domaine bottling. Burned, stem aromatics. Lacks purity or delineation on palate. Very disappointing wine. (2011/2886)
