This was so good. It starts off with some tar and spruce like forest smells. There's some truffle aromas too. With air there a core of black cherry, raisins and burnt fig that intensifies. It is rich and powerful, with great depth and chew. Towards the end of the bottle Indian spice notes came to the fore.

A great Italian evening in Belgium: Mature bouquet with rust and iron, earth, autumn and still a hit of red berries. The same on the palate, juicy acidity and fully integrated and melted soft tannin.

Italian night @ Stappato (Enoteca Stappato, Leuven (Belgium)): Shy, reticent nose. Lovely freshness and acidity are the main attraction of this wine. Midpalate is starting to get thinner, but the length and persistence of this wine is still impressive.

OK but not great nose, a bit oxidized. The palate however was quite nice with deet underlying sweetness which lingered in the finish and made the wine quite long. Very little tannins left which was a strange sensation-a Barolo with no tannins :-)

Same as last note, tired and oxidized, not much fruit left.
