Smooth as silk. Fully mature and beautifully layered with flavors of black fruits and charcoal minerals. Virtually no acidity left but no jammy flavors either. Out of magnum at Napa In The City. The mouthfeel here is impeccable.

A Tour de Force 'Best Bottle' Tasting (Republique, Los Angeles): Our only American wine, and though served blind, it did not strike me as Old World. However, the three Frenchmen among us were sure it was Bordeaux, go figure. We did agree that it was flat-out delicious, fresh and robust, with lush American oak and ripe fruit in happy balance. Complex and rewarding, within the modern frame exhibiting its polish and purity, with no edges.

Opened, decanter and consumed over five hours Ox blood in color, full bodied Pencil lead, iodine, leather, Astringent, unctuous, cedar hints, silky smooth, long finish, no doubt that this is a superior wine. Fruit is in decline but all tertiary note are singing. This wine is at its peak. Drink up now. FANTASTIC juice!!!! One of the best wines I have probably ever consumed. Cheers and happy birthday to me! Lolz....

(Harlan Estate) I did not like this. It was a well made wine but lacked soul if you can say that. Rich and very decadent with great purity and incredible concentration but it showed a bitof heat that never went away. Did not go that well with the food either. The acid was very very low. Good wine and I can see other people freaking out about it . . . but not I.

Big nose, coiffed, new leather gloves, coffee. A little too fat, but enjoyable.

From DM. Nicely aged and superbly round, closer to Bordeaux than younger Harlans.
