  • Very good, but something unresolved. Forward red fruit , but in a mineral, tart way as opposed to a jammy way. Oak doesn’t over ride the acidity, but also doesn’t provide they volnay velvet. The impression is more of a Vosne spice but without the blue fruits and fireworks.. Finish medium to long. Suggest 2026 for next bottle.

The bottle was decanted after initial taste and left an hour’s repose. Pan roast chicken with aromatic, tarragon jus.

  • Having had a troubling bottle last week, I was motivated to open one of my own to check in. Fortunately, I'm glad to be able to confirm that the previous bottle wasn't in great shape. Tonight's bottle (with a burger) was far more representative -- crisp and tart red fruit, with a generally lighter body, and pronounced acidity. The oak I mentioned a few years ago seems to have disappeared; in fact, this is quite crystalline and pure in its fruit and spice expression now. Very nice.

  • Dinner at Tiny Pine Bistro (Carbondale, CO): Not sure if this was wholly representative, because if it isn't, that's pretty shocking how fast this is evolving. Too earthy and autumnal for a 2013, with the red fruit in a very advanced state. Judgment reserved; I'm gonna crack a bottle from a different source to check.

  • Second bottle from a perfect case. OK is what I would say about this wine right not. It's correct, has good acidity, minerality, structure and some red fruit with a touch of oak. It just doesn't set the world on fire for me and veers too much on austerity. Personally I like more fruit. Probably hold 5-10 for the structure to soften.
