Polished and succulent loaded with blackberry jam, cassis, plum and iron. Tannins are soft and well integrated, well balanced and finish is flavorful and long. NI:4, FI:23, FC:9, B:4, L:4

Initially my instinct was 92-93 thinking it just needed to breathe.
Drank over a couple days and even with ample air seems overextracted and jammy. Not bad but I am not sure this wine is going in a good direction. Revisit in 5 yrs maybe. Good but not great at this stage 90+/-

Monbousquet is probably my favorite St. Émilion producer. And this vintage is a great example from the Château. In a great spot with a bit of air. Outstanding, in fact. Balanced fruit and tannins fill the mouth. Enjoyable textures flow into a nice clean finish. A beautiful wine.
Decanted 3 hours and drank over the next hour. Dark black color. Nice floral nose. First sip was chocolate cake with cassis, leather and spice. Oh yeah…my kind of StE. The Cab Franc lives harmonious with the Merlot. So smooth and elegant. This will easily get to 93-95 over the next several years. This is such a classic Monbousquet that will rival 2009 & 2010. Great extraction & flavor layers. Excellent.
This is not ready. Drying, harsh tannins, ripe fruit, and high alcohol. I’ve had some very enjoyable Monbousquet at 10-12 yrs old, but this is becoming a touch concerning at age 8. Although, I’ve seen much bigger turnarounds. 🤷🏻♂️
