Utviklingsmessig kommet et lite hakk lenger enn Clusel-Roch, deilige modne jorbæraromaer i mix med jord og skogbunn. Balansert og flott, behagelig, snarere enn imponerende smakskraft.

Slight bricking, dark red color, masculine nose that reminds me of a Gevrey wine, meaty. Medium plus palate, integrated tannins and loads of ripe secondary flavors, very decent Beaune wine.

(Drouhin Joseph Beaune Clos des Mouches) In this case the 'mouches' are bees, not flies! This, the best known of Drouhin's vineyards was purchased about 1918, today it is run on a biodynamic basis. The colour is similar to the Côte de Beaune. Again, reserved on the nose, a little toasty perhaps - though Drouhin don't char their barrels. Very good acidity and much finer tannins than the last wine. The black cherry fruit is intense, lasting well in the finish. A very good wine, again will benefit from some time in the cellar.
(Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru "Clos de Mouches" Rouge) Such a supple wine. This is what the Brits mean when they say a wine has charm. Very supple and rich on the palate with cherry skins and raspberies. Rich and expressive with great inner-mouth action and sappines. Very drinkable today.

Blind Tasting: Beaune specifically, not Côte de Beaune generally (Camino): Less on nose than the '95 Drouhin Clos des Mouches. But spicier, darker fruit and a livelier, gently feral palate.

Nose of red fruits (mostly raspberries), accompanied with earthy flavours. Great smoothness and balance, I enjoyed it very much.
