  • Delicious last bottle of this vintage. Brown on the rim, and looking aged, but it delivers a solid depth of flavor with deep dark cherry, and still some violet flowery notes. Surprised at how fresh and delicious it tasted.

  • Wine felt a little tired upon opening; all muted, stewed fruit, and earth. After about 3.5 hours in the decanter it opened up a bit and continued to do so. Sharp, red and dark raspberry, leather, not as much nervy character as other vintages; acid is also lower than normal, but it was a warm vintage throughout Europe. Next bottle i'll either wait 5 years, or let decant 5+ hours and see whats going on.

  • Light, precise, and elegant body and mouthfeel; the palate's fruit was clean and deep. Beautiful wine, from magnums at Cinghiale.

  • On the nose I found plum fruit with violets, spiced roasting sausage and notes of fresh dug soil. On the palate, this showed restrained and begged for a revisit later in the night that unfortunately never happened. However, at the time of tasting, about an hour after opening, I found red fruits with cloves, and stems. The finished showed short for me but again, this bottle will likely improve a great deal with a few years time.

  • Longboard does Dallas (Amici's Signature Italian, Carrollton, TX): WIML91-92?

Tasted February 2, 2010 at and offline as part of the WinExiles tasting for January. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about 2 hours and revisted the next day. Garnet color in the glass, fairly clear hue. Nose of black cherries, black berries, a little smoke and a bit of thatch. Flavors of red berries, Bing cherries and a little raspberry. Bright acidity, firm tannins, medium to full bodied. Hold into the short term and drink over the medium term. The nose was much more expressive than the palate.
