  Dinner with Rob and Alet (Ingen): Spectacular powerhouse with transcendental long, long, finish. Brooding red with ripe cherry, leather, tobacco, wood notes, tar another 10 year cellaring potential left.

  Medium-pale ruby-garnet, slow viscous tears @14% abv. Initially closed aromas, later barnyard, liciorice, balsamic, and black fruit, wood notes.
  Dry, medium acidity, high tannin, medium(+) alcohol and medium-medium(+) body.
  Palate of black cherry, figs, balsamic, leather and touched by herbs. Mega-structured, intense but not dense, concentrated by not over-extracted. Powerful and long finish (10's of seconds) with ample fine tannin and fruits, showing layer after layer.
  Remarkably fresh and vital given the age.
  Will keep the other bottles for later. Remaining cellaring potential up to 10 years.

  Bought this bottle at the winery in 2005. Shipped to Amsterdam. Picked up this bottle in Amsterdam and took it to Dubai for 3 years. Moved it in container freight from Dunai to Houston in late summer 6 years ago. Saved the bottle form drowning in Harvey, yet had it exposed to excessive heat due to no AC for 10 days, moved house 3 more times and now finally opened one of 6.
  
  Corked - through the cork mess a super-concentrated full bodied beast shone through displaying some of the most powerful and intriguing tannins ever tasted. Pity most of the fruit faded and the acidity became harsh. The remaining 5 bottles have been cellared in Amsterdam and hopefully fared better.

  Always a humbling experience to taste such an old wine.
  
  Appearance: Pale garnet color with light copper hue on the edge. Sticky legs. Throws a little sediment. Not problematic at all, just be careful when pouring the end.
  Nose: The most prominent feature is its interesting mix of fruit characteristics: cooked prunes, wild strawberries, burnt orange peel, along with development aromas: rancio (fruit cake) and new leather especially, mild tobacco and hint of vegetal notes.
  Palate: Fresh and lively for its age. High acid, high amount of fine, silky tannins, only medium bodied, warming alcohol 14% abv. Flavors are quite intense and consistent with nose aromas with more cooked fruit and rancio. Long finish.
  This Brunello is well in its drinking window but I would drink now and over the next 3 years.
