Tasted blind, this wine had a medium yellow center and clear rims. The medium intensity nose showed almond paste, lemon zest, apricot, and white stone.
While this wine's impact felt refined and beautifully balanced, the reality was it had huge richness, glycerin, and length. As usual with the 1985s, this was so clean and streamlined that it required a lot of air and some attention to reveal it greatness.
While this was drinking now with 3+ hours in a decanter, it will certainly last a decade or so.

Tasted blind, this wine had a deep yellow center and clear rims. The medium+ intensity nose emanated lemony petroleum jelly, minerals, pear, and acacia flowers.
This wine developed in all different directions in the glass. It was as if the wine wanted to show different sides of its flavor profile at different times. It is hard to imagine the sensory overload if they were all present at once! It was subtle and yet rich. It was reserved and yet dramatic. It had fine-grained acidity and huge length. If you are looking for a heavy-weight White Burgundy, this is not your bottle. It was all class and refinement.
This bottle was in top notch condition. I was very pleased it did not have the excess wood that occasionally mars Ramonet wines. Amazingly, it would have lasted 15+ more years in the cellar.

From magnum, sadly this was not in good form... not corked but it seems to have been exposed to heat at some point which really sapped its energy away. Still plenty of rich fruit, just lacked the life you expect.

A Ramonet Montrachet Vertical & 1999 Grand Cru Horizontal, Mostly Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (The Grill - New York NY): Served alongside the 1986. Both opened two hours before serving. Apple, quince paste, honeycomb and butterscotch with good richness, still retaining enough brightness and energy. This got a little musty after an hour in glass, but freshened up when finished another hour+ later.

Deep, dark and rich flavor profile yet quite vigorous. Increasing complexity and pungency on the nose with air time. 95-96
