  A beautiful, exceptional, and fascinating wine. Immediately obvious notes of oxidation on the nose blending with florals and banana and petrol with some ripe pineapple hidden much behind that. Powerful and demanding, it's unlike any wine from the grape I've tasted or imagined. A long, clean, bright finish that hints at grapefruit. It tasted great with food, and better at room temperature.

  so good, this just kept opening up steadily, and it felt like something quite young, most Sauvignon is pretty dull at 8 years old, while this is maybe not close to its plateau...
  
  resplendent and lifted on the nose: piercing citrus, perfect apricot, mango, myriad green herbs, a little sweet almond and elderflower... full but super fresh, brilliant acidity, deep texture, great length, this has it all, and while it has beautiful Sauvignon character it somehow also totally transcends the Sauvignon variety, it is just amazing distinctive white wine...

  At the end of the day, it remains a Sauvignon Blanc. But it is singular, although maybe less noticeably in this vintage compared to 2015 which I found slightly more exotic. Petrol and grapefruit on the nose, grassy, with spearmint and tropical fruit, honeydew melon.. I was especially pleased with the acidity in 2016, nothing flabby at all.
  
  This paired excellently with hamachi crudo and a green leaf salad with shallot vinaigrette.
