Decanted for 30min then back to bottle and followed for a few hours.
Expressive nose of creamy ripe tropical fruit. Mango, apricot, melon. Distinct thick waxy note overlaying the fruit as well. Palate had a lovely mouthfeel. Full but not heavy, dense, and powerful. Acidity was not nearly as high as I would have expected or hoped. Finish was very long with dense tropical fruit.
As this aired out some acidity came to play. Kept half the bottle in the fridge and will report back on Day 2.
Quality is very high but not stylistically my preference. I prefer something a bit leaner with more cut. 91-92, drinking very well now. Certainly another 10 years ahead for those that liked aged whites.
Day 2: Similar notes, maybe some more acidity showing but not much. Good quality but not my preferred style (at least in this vintage).

Loire Tasting (Mathilda Bistro, San Francisco): Classic Sauvignon Blanc nose with notes of chalk, lemon, peach, orange, and bright minerals. It feels just a tad riper than a well made Sancerre. Nice acidity on the palate with lemon notes, citrus zest, minerals, and bright fruit on the palate. Nice finish. A very good wine! Feels a bit like a hypothetical mix of Austrian SB and Sancerre...

Berserker Offline (Mathilde Bistro - SF): A bit closed and oaky - should have revisited later in the night but didn't get a chance. A ton of stuffing underneath, wonderfully rich citrus and tropical fruit (kiwi? mango?), a bit of pastry cream, and juicy acid. Needs time for the oak to integrate. 91 for enjoyment now, probably add 2-3 in time.

This wine needed a lot of air. It started out quite reserved and backwards and wasn’t showing much. With air, it gained weight, ripeness, and aroma, but remained balanced. Tropical fruit, citrus, peach, a bit of cream, and smoke on the nose. Rich mouthfeel, yet balanced by high acidity with more citrus notes on the palate. Long finish. A very good wine, despite the high ripeness. Could use another 5 years in the cellar to show everything. 93-94+

October 2023 Loire Dinner (Mathilde - SF): Surprisingly interesting despite being very rich and very Sauvignon Blanc.
