You get a big whiff of smoky minerals followed by some aniseed and fennel, which morph into a smell of liquorice. It was super complex, rich and powerful but with a certain weightlessness. It had incredible length of flavour.

Second bottle of 95 Montrachet I’ve had that was defective. Disappointing.

CC. Salty aromas, not particularly appetizing but over time antiseptically clean. Palate is super viscous.

Montrachet Dinner: 10 Vintages of Ramonet and Marquis de Laguiche, 1983-2002 (Oceana - New York NY): What a positive surprise vs expectations. Subtle and very elegant start-to-finish, but with great intensity and energy. Great fruit and charming mint notes, but textures are the superstar here.

Light golden, left in the glass for an hour, fruity nose turned into candied, sugary, flowery and caramel nose. Rich in flavour. A serious wine.
