  • My only bottle of this here kitchen sink type blend of grenache/garnacha (35%), cab sauv (25%), samso (15%), syrah (13%), merlot (9%), and cab franc (3%). It's got an inky black appearance all the way to the very edges, where it takes on a ruby hue. Aromatically it's a little tight, but has some black currant, black raspberry, plum, and graphite showing, along with a hint of floral. Seems to open up a bit with a little air. It's medium bodied, with medium to medium (+) acidity and finish, and shows similar flavors on the palate. Neither bombastic nor contemplative Priorat, but a fine enough weeknight wine for our tostadas tonight, or maybe burgers or a steak sandwich. 87-88

  • Turbid deep ruby. Herbs and spices on the nose. Plum, blackberry, raspberry, black currant, licorice, lead pencil, vanilla, and tar highlight the palate.

Bold and intriguing, this wine is round and dry, with medium+ tannins, medium acidity, and medium alcohol. Paired well with ribeye steak.

  • Hard to believe this is the entry-level Priorat of the ‘Casa Gran del Siurana’ estate. An extremely well-made wine designed for early drinking pleasure, but capable of cellaring for 3-4 years. The “2015 GR-174 Vi de Gran Recorregut” refers to the long-distance hiking trail (Sender del Priorat ) that crosses the estate's vineyards. Varietal composition: Garnatxa (35 %), Cabernet Sauvignon (25 %), Samsó (Carinyena, 15 %), Syrah (13 %), Merlot (9 %) and Cabernet Franc (3 %). The wine was aged for nine months, half in barriques, the other half in stainless steel tanks. Intense dark cherry-red color with violet edges. The nose is brimming with lovely aromas of fresh red fruits, cassis, licorice, sweet spices and some balsamic nuances. The full-bodied, well-balanced palate is dominated by succulent plum, cherry and mulberry fruit, elegant tannins and is supported by a finely integrated acidity. Long harmonious finish. This wine is wonderfully drinkable now in its fruity phase. Why wait? A fabulous wine at an unbeatable price level.
