This vine is a great favorite of mine, but I was concerned over two items. One, when I bought it In the early 1970s, 1967 was not included to be a great year for Bordeaux, and. two, the Level of the wine In the bottle was down maybe 3/4 of an inch. The cork was quite wet, but intact.
Susannah loved it immediately. I was a bit concerned that the alcohol contact was too low, but the wine held up well over a one-hour meal. It never quite opened up, which was not unexpected, given the age.
I have more in the cellar, So I must make a point of opening another full bottle for a balanced perspective

A success in a difficult vintage, the wine was more about its secondary aromatics, than the fading, palate. If you have a bottle, pop a cork before more of the fruit is replaced by acidity.

The oldest bottle in this impressive line up of Pichon Baron spanning over 5 decades. Unfortunately the least pleasant wine. Brown in colour, heavily maderised on the nose, maggi spice, biting acidity. Just slightly better on the palate but still quite nasty and undrinkable.

Really can't give points for this showing. Tired and dirty on the nose with a thin palate and finish. Just fun to drink old wines whether enjoyable or not.
