Slightly less open than 2009. More acidity. Feels younger than 2009 although excellent potential as it continues to mature. Some lovely cedar on the finish. Neck and neck with 2009 today but in the future this might well be better.
I agree that this would have easily been a classified growth in 1855 - indeed it rivals the Grand Vin of many of the more average 20th Century vintages.

Le Petit Mouton Masterclass and Dinner - BBR & Chateau Mouton Rothschild: Cassis, cherry, rapsberry nose. Some tobacco and liquorice. Palate cassis, dark fruits, some tobacco. Spices. cedar. Large, powerful, complex wine with layers. Long, complex finish. Noticeable uptick in quality. Impressive.

Medium garnet with significant browning on edges, and thick legs. Pronounced nose, with ripe redcurranr and blackberry aromas, and fresh herbs, with a hint of mushroom. Still a slight tannic crunch with vibrant acids, and very intense dried redcurrant and bramble flavours, dried grass, tar, paprika, vanilla, and a bit of dried Shitake mushrooms. Fairly long, and exhibiting a complex, peppery and blackish tar finish. Nice!

A little shy and closed in the beginning. After 1-2 hours it started to open up. Cassis, tar, smoky bacon and some greenish notes. Good structure, medium complexity. Wait a little longer and drink from 2024-2034. (IG)

Le Petit Mouton Masterclass and Dinner - BBR & Chateau Mouton Rothschild: Second time drinking this during the day, had side by side with the 2009 vintage.

We served PNP and still found it was very approachable. A good second wine and shared the similar characters as her sister.
