Not a fan of second wines as they are overpriced for what they are and receive sup-par grapes but this 2005 was very respectable. Discrete nose of spices, red and dark fruit. Racy acidity, tannins well managed. An elegant 2005 that is early in its drinking window. Confirms that the 2005 should not be consumed before 2025 and the top wines not before 2030, at age 25.

I always have difficulty in describing my tasting experience when I come across a wine like this that I prefer not to pick apart and wish to describe simply as YUM!! I know it’s not very descriptive but it describes how I feel when everything is perfect Nose, palate integration and finish. This wine qualifies for simply YUM.

Had with grilled tenderloin at Mark Wilhelm’s to celebrate Walt’s birthday. Despite nearly 16 years from the harvest this wine is still very youthful. I haven’t had this wine or vintage before so no direct comparison can be made. Still with prominent oak, primary cabernet flavors and integrated tannins. It feels like this has many years to evolve and be enjoyable.

(Le Petit Mouton) Weekend Dear Friends, A few requested re-order wines to clean up this weekend before we move on to new horizons... All are FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to the posted limits. Have a great weekend everyone - - Jon Rimmerman *********************** 2002 Zilliken Ockfener Bockstein Riesling Spatlese (Saar) STRICT LIMIT 12/person at this price I'm not sure what is going on with the 2002 Zilliken Ockfener Spatlese but someone has obviously penned or posted a TN somewhere as we've been getting requests for it since November. We offered this wine last fall as a special and here it is again at the same price (something of a joke at this point for top-quality Spatlese with age). 2002 has always been overlooked in favor of 2001 but it's a vintage that is still considered very good to excellent and it would have received far more press if not for following in the footsteps of one of the finest overall vintages in history (similar to 2001 in Bordeaux after 2000). 2005 Chateau d'Armailhac (Pauillac) STRICT LIMIT 6/person This price for a 2005 Medoc of this caliber? This is from an original parcel in perfect condition and the wine is only hinting at what it will be a decade (or more) from now. 2005 Le Petit Mouton (Pauillac) STRICT LIMIT 3/person at this price Same Mouton family as the d'Armailhac, also at an eye-opening price for the 2005 (compare at up to $100-150+, I'm not even counting the absurd prices in NY for $200-250/bottle). Like the d'Armailhac, this is an original shipment from Mouton-Rothschild. Cedric Bouchard Inflorescence Champagne Blanc de Noirs (Val Vilaine) STRICT LIMIT 12/person This parcel is directly from the winery cellar with pristine provenance. If you enjoy a touch of fruit and fizz with your rock and minerality, this is for you... Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Germ8011 Bord7772 Bord7737 Champ6710
