Much better than the bottle opened in August, this is serious, manly Pinot Noir. Darker compared to the Savigny from Jacob, more substance and material, still slightly tannic. On cherry fruit, spices and sous bois notes. Needs time to open up. Will live.

Not as impressive as other 1998s I’ve enjoyed from Arnoux. This is slightly dry, maybe from too much oak, but the underlying material is good. The fruit is towards the darker end of the spectrum and there’s sous bois notes as well. Medium bodied. Need to revisit soon.

This is a lovely and true example of Nuits St George in a difficult year. There is a good clear cherry red colour with a nose of dark cherry, wild strawberry, game and forest floor. The palate is medium weight with nice fruit, a real mineral and earth savage character and a slightly coarse finish common to many 98s. Perfect on the night with a rustic pasta dish !

Pale cherry red. Inviting nose of cherry, strawberry, spice and earth. Medium weight palate with lovely structure and finish. Drinking beautifully now and while not especially complex or intense it has real charm and interest.
