Online Blind Tasting #4: *** brief notes from online blind tasting *** Note is based on a tasting sip in the morning on day one, ~4cl on the evening and 0,1l filled in a bottle and sealed with argon gas on the evening of day three. Glass: Zalto Universal From perfect bottle. Clear, medium golden color. Clean, medium intense, fully developed nose. Smoky, spicy, some petrol, tar, ripe stone fruit. Lean, deep and complex. Beautiful. Dry, medium+/high acidity. 14% abv well integrated. White pepper, yellow stone fruit, smoke, salty mineral, herbs, some acacia (hints of botrytis). Awesome pressure, tension and depth! Very complex. Wonderful balance and quite elegant. Some flesh, but never broad or fat. Very long salty finish. At its full peak. 94-95

Tasting with some wine freaks (Private Location, Frankfurt, Germany): I had really high expectations after Dirk and Young-Uk told me that this is one of the best vintages ever produced in the Wachau (I´m not such a big fan as they are) but this Kellerberg from F.X. was way too overdone imo. Super concentrated, candied apricots, pure Botrytis flavors. Also on the palate powerful but more driven by the alcohol and big heat in the back. Not my cup of tea, neither the one of the other tasters.

Tasting with some wine geeks (@Private location, Frankfurt): Glass: Gabriel Standard Decanted for about 1h. Clear, light golden-amber color. Lots of botrytis on nose and palate. At first almost hot (14% abv) and super concentrated and bold. On the late palate a beautiful tangerine fruit appears. Certainly a good wine, but lacks the finesse and elegance of the other great Rieslings that we had this night. I don’t think that it will get any better so slowly drink up. 91-92

Another lovely bottle - golden yellow in colour, hints of petrol on the nose, dried fruit, yellow stone fruit, very herbal, very mineral. On the palate citrus fruit, again mineral, lots of acidity, good weight, impressive length. Slowly drink up. 93-95

Golden-yellow in colour. Great richness and complexity to the nose again, almost fat. Slightly honeyed lime fruit, nuts, wet stones. Good weight on the palate, lovely freshness, mineral and saline, lots of drive and power, really long. Good grip. Well balanced, but not a lightweight. No rush drinking this. 92-94
