Garnet. Nose and taste still had a backbone of a typical big Oz shiraz, but there were clear signs that it is starting to go downhill, so drink up. Smoother than when had 15 years ago.

Classic Barossa fruit but not over the top. Excellent structure, balanceand deliniation. Holding together exceptionally well after 18 years. This really does give Grange a run for the money with the requisite 15 years of aging. Why did the Aussies ever get away from this more classically restrained style of wine? Excellent.

Lots of oak on the nose and some earthiness. Air is helping. Silky tannins, still a decent amount of fruit on the long finish, but the oak is almost overwhelming (at least within the first hour of opening).

Fruit has faded but nice flavors of leather and earth. Long finish. Very enjoyable.
