So much lift, energy and charm here - all the delights of an elegant 2010 red Burgundy. The nose had a delicious blackcurrant leaf note that I often find in Grivot's wines, and which continued to delight through the the entire bottle. Really clean and balanced on the palate - so much so I think I failed to give it the attention it deserved. Happy to have another, which may well get a higher score with additional maturity.

Annual Bonfire Party tasting. Very surprisingly pale and transparent colour for a 2010 Nuits. Blind I would have said a Chambolle from the '90s. The nose unfurls wave after wave of cherries, minerals, spice, fresh flowers and then more earthy notes; again I would have thought a '10 Nuits would be more muted. This exuberance carries on into the palate with a great fruit/acid balance, complex and intense flavours balanced by minerality but still exuding an ethereal weightlessness that is the epitome of fine Burgundy for me. WOTN by a huge distance and possibly the most enjoyable Burg I have ever tasted . Drinking beautifully but more than enough there for a long life. 97-8

Iron, blood, earthy aromas with red fruit. Lovely balance, length, and acid. I expected this to be a little closed but not at all. Ready for business and drinking beautifully although will develop further. Had with Xmas lunch.

Had this with the Boudots and this lost by a point. Nose was bramble and red-fruited. Palate was lighter and more subtle than Boudots, with some iron and blood notes which mark this as more rustic. Could evolve into interesting nuances with time.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Alpharetta, GA): Pale see through crimson, very pale rim; sour cherry, reductive, sweet nose, rose petals, tire, fresh; pretty on the palate, strawberry, sexy and soft, light cherry, great fruit, fresh, cool, firm acid; good potential here.
