  • Raspberries on the nose. Somewhat cold palate - a little muted, slim and elegant - long aftertaste. Ready now.

  • Dark, dense and unfiltered red color. Nose is full of delightful red fruits dominated by lingonberries and dill. Taste is as expected from a nice, young nebbiolo; full of nicely integrated tannins and lots of powerful and balanced fruit.

  • Unclear unfiltered but dense color. Smells plenty of ripe fermented apples. Dried plums, acidic fruit, apricots and peaches on the nose. Hints of calvados. Palate is strong and fruity with lots of blackcurrant and drying tannins. A very good wine.

  • This is far too young to drink. On the pop and pour, camphor on the nose; on the palate, powerful vanilla oak and subdued red fruit, with drying tannins on the short to medium finish. After a decant, this opened up a bit, with the vanilla fading and some mouthwatering acidity countering the tannins. This clearly has the potential to improve dramatically as the oak and tannins integrate; what lies underneath the oak and tannin is nicely balanced between fruit and acidity, and it should become a beautiful wine as it evolves and integrates. I have saved half the bottle for tomorrow, and I expect it to be much better -- I may rescore it then. However, I wouldn't open another bottle for at least five years. This is not a wine that shows well young. Edit: On the second day the vanilla has mostly faded and some roses and black cherry have appeared, but the tannins still show strongly on the finish. This needs several years of aging to settle down.
