  • Light ruby color, certainly can sense the age from the color. On the nose, extremely wild and intriguing, it presented the aroma I prefer when drinking older northern Rhone, mineral, exotic spices, and special perfume that capture wild flowers, red berries and a touch of lady cigarettes. On the palate, it was slightly muted in the beginning, with the finish faded at front to mid palate, but the wine opened up a lot after two hours of opening, the acidity and gentle red fruits gradually moved toward back of the palate, offering longer finish.

  • Dinner at Jade Court (Chicago, IL): Super meaty and bloody nose -- most of the olive/saline tones are gone, but instead there's a lot of animale qualities, as well as a surprising amount of spice. Lovely red-fruited tones on the palate, but definitely showing its age and getting tired. Can't help but think there's a little bit of a taste of wet cardboard on the finish here. This is fairly acid-forward, and the texture somewhat thin. The bright colour here is definitely indicative of a well-cared-for bottle, but all organic things have a lifespan and this is near the end of it.
