Garnet color. Zero fade at rim. Tertiary aromas - roasted red fruits rolled in loam. Medium weight on the palate. Tight with acidity and superfine tannins. Agree with the “serve cool” recommendation. This is northern Rhône through a California lens. Drink now. Benchmark US Syrah. Well done Nick in the vineyard, Vanessa in the cellar and Andy in the market.

Very tannic even now. Served at 65, bramble red and blue fruit. BlackBerry raspberry blueberry. Tons of stem inclusion. Major pucker. Do not serve at room temp. You will think the fruit has faded. It is strong and bright wine with a abv listed as 13.5. Feels like a 14 or 13.8. Strong year. Wow. I was worried it was over the hill. Not so.

I love Peay wines. The Scallop Shelf Pinot is my favorite wine out there at the moment and has been for a while. While the price point is a stretch, its worth it! Much to my dismay, the Les Titans is just not very good. It hints at greatness with a deep complexity to the aroma and at the first mouthful, however, it just doesn't deliver. Its more of a St. Joseph style than a typical fruit forward California Syrah, however, usually I like the Northern Rhones. For the money I would buy something else. A major disappointment.

Very different from my first bottle, or perhaps just my tastes have changed.
The nose was pretty mute - perhaps some cork taint? - and I missed the pepper. The palate still has strong acidity, but not over the top. Full blue fruit profile.
Good, but not fantastic. I suspect a little TCA hampered this bottle; looking forward to my final bottle in a few years.
